I’m female, 54 years old, 5’2.5″ , holding steady at 130 lbs with a BMI of 31! I am not a blob but I’m also obviously not too healthy internally! Years ago I developed Graves Disease, it progressed until I had the radioactive iodine treatment – so I probably don’t have any of my thyroid left. Any diet that can ‘ramp up my metabolism’ by stimulating the thyroid is a bust. I’ve tried numerous things even going to a nutritionist and I just cannot get my weight down to where I feel ‘normal’. I’ve always been around 112 lbs even after 3 children. I now feel like I am dragging around someone’s backpack all day. She exercises quite a bit, with Soccer, Pilaties and Yoga all classes she is currently taking. She is a Food Science Major and knows quite a bit about nutrition, balance and the value of eating properly. She has tried multiple diet programs and pills. I have lost weight in the past and it has come back. Last year, I turned 50 and did an 88.1 mile bike ride to have an “Oprah moment” (she did a marathon at 50) and hoped to lose weight in the process. I didn’t. I’m looking for something that will re-ignite my metabolism. I have no problem exercising and being consistent. I watch what I eat. I am very careful about carbs…..reading the packages for carb content. I’ve elminated sweets and snacks like pretzels and chips from my home. I just need the fuel to get my metabolism moving again.

I have done marathons and triathlons, I eat tofu and drink soy milk, and I haven’t eaten a donut in over twenty years but I can’t seem to lose those stubborn 10-15 pounds. I will be 40 in four months and have been told that the pounds are almost impossible to shed once you reach that magic age. I am a hard worker, dedicated athlete, and mom of three fun and crazy boys. When I was 12 I use to go to a “Body Builder Gym” with my father and my brother. The guys would tell my dad, to get her into body building, with those “Thighs”! I am 43 years old and that is my the one thing I have problems with. I play an extreme sport and work out and eat right, but its like they get bigger and bigger. My muscle builds, but the fat just does not want to part from my thighs. I always thought being Italian had something to do with it. (Just and excess!)
I’ve gone the whole 9 yards, diet pills, strict food plans, books, running 3 to 4 miles a day, and of course the “INFAMOUS DIET DOCTOR”. I just want to lose the fat. I have the muscle to back me up.

Diet and exercise, the killer combo, the former of the two still eludes me. As much as I continue to follow your amazing strength and fitness advice, without the proper nutrition and supplement program, my results have diminished. To make matters worse, I am a recently diagnosed Celiac, which has almost pushed me to my breaking point in terms of food preparation. I now have to give up those processed foods that were not only are bad for my disease, but were not doing anything for my health. I’m in great shape, but I’m not yet that happy with my body. I’ve got almost

Hi Joel: I need a miracle about now . . . I’m 68, people have guessed my age in early 50’s, BUT I weigh195 fruggin’ pounds and I cannot get it off. I bought your Cheat Your Way Thin Diet and combined it with paying $500/mo for a trainer to work out at a gym and I lost – 3 pounds in 3 months. I’ve bought Mike Geary’s stuff, Bill Phillips and more. I’ve tried every supplement that’s supposed to help weight loss. Nada. I tried Ann Louise Gittleman’s Fast but didn’t know how to combine it with your diet and some exercise to get results. I’ve given up on sex life b/c I refuse to take off my clothes with this fat on my stomach, waist and thighs. I’d LOVE to be your poster gal for weight loss in my age group. There is nothing out there for women over 60. I still attract looks from men 20 years younger so it’s not the looks but the fat and the fact I can’t hike and walk long distances like I used to. As one of those guys who just turned 50, I decided to make some changes and be the adult that I physically (not mentally) am. After the physical, and usual health checks, I decided that I needed to get in a little better shape. Since I come from a family with a strong history of heart issues, along with already being diagnosed with high blood pressure and cholesterol, I was already active and not terribly overweight. Recently. I discovered your email updates along with a few of your assoicates and have made significant changes in my diet which has already paid dividends. I definitely am looking for that cutting edge program that will help me shed ‘the last 10 pounds’ and hopefully prove to my doctor and to me that with hard work and the right tools, you can overcome some of the shortcomings that family history has can deal you. I’ve been fluffy since I was a child, and have paid a terrible social and emotional price for it. It’s cost me income too, the stats say. Fortunately, I look relatively normal, as unfortunately the rest of the world has taken a turn for much worse. As I’m past my mid fifties, I working very hard to just stay fluffy; but have not given up on being a size six again. I just flat out like good food. I’m a terrific chef. I’m not miserable so I don’t eat for emotional reasons. I have fixed many of my health challenges, but have not conquered the calories. So, I really don’t have a sob story for you, but I lead a large group of people who are more like me – not that far off the mark, but we’ll take all the help we can get. So, I’m hoping you’ll give us people in the middle a chance for a change – not only supporting those who are in dire straights. In other words, where’s the stimulus for the middle – not just the rich and the down and out.
I cannot WAIT to try this program!!! As a formerly overweight and unhealthy person, 5 years ago I quit smoking, started exercising and eating right and lost 70 pounds. I hovered right around 175 lbs for a couple of years which is too much for my 5’10” frame. When I became pregnant, I gained exactly 70 pounds and again, a year and a half later, cannot seem to get below 175 pounds. I eat fairly well (although I am excited about the cheat day!!), walk in my hilly neighborhood while pushing my stroller for an hour most days of the week, and do a full body strength training workout twice a week. Seeing that the already super fit John Romaniello and others have lost weight on your program, I don’t see how I couldn’t! I am SOOO excited to try this out and get all of my friends and family to try it too!
I have reached mid 50 and have all the related belly fat that comes with this age. For months I have strickly followed a different diet lifestyle plan including good carbs, low sugar, lean protein, cheat days, etc. I have also excercized every morning with strength training. I have only lost 10 pounds and most of the time I feel bloated and still have my belly fat. My hormones have been checked and regulated. I am so discouraged.
