Thanks for all you do in the fitness and fat-loss industry as so much is NOT scientifically based…I am 57 year old high school science teacher who is, although still active (I weight train, play tennis, and bicycle every week) and reasonably muscled, 60 lbs. “overfat” (35% body fat at 5 ft. 8 in.at 240 lbs. bodyweight)..I need a program to lose excess bodyfat ASAP as it is beginning to affect my joints in my hips and knees during exercise…believe me with a M.Sc in biochemistry, I know the science and you are onto something…if it can work for me, then it can work for anyone, as I need structure in that I love to eat!…I eat reasonably heathy but just too much…HELP me please!

simply put i need this becouse i have already managed to lose 145 pounds. i am with 30 pounds of goal and im stuck. i need something to kick start the weight loss again. i have come thru alot beating the odds getting rid of my diabetes high blood pressure having two knee replacements. i want to kick the last 30 to the curb once and for all!!

I am a 46 yr old mother with a son of 21years a daughter of 19years and my youngest daughter of 3years. I have been on a overall wellness struggle for the past 3years. I am a diabetic on insulin and currently nothing is working in the nutrition, exercise, life balance. I had surgery back surgery in May/2009, and currently trying to incorporate a program that will assist in all areas of life. I live in a small town and would really like to make a difference to myself for all around health and wellness. One of my life goals is to improve my overall health with fitness, nutrition and overall enjoyment and excitement in life. While turning my life around my dream is to open a Fitness center for children in the community to expand their knowledge and learning to take care of themselves in a fun and exciting environment. The important steps are to make the training fun, simple and effective.

I would love to make a difference in my community and myself. Life gets better and better in every day and in every way!

Wow where to start? I’m very bummed and can’t seem to get motivated. I haven’t had a date in years. I’m not bad looking I just have a spare tire no one seems to like. Even me. With summer coming so quick I’m embarrassed to put on a swimsuit. I’ve gained 10lbs since last summer (not that it was easy to put on a suit last year). I have tried different programs but only seem to put on more weight. They all want me to eat what they want (and I don’t like). I am a chocoholic and I know that’s my biggest weakness. I quit smoking a few years ago and course only put on more weight. I know smoking is stupid especially since I have asthma. I just need some help that actually works and I hope you can do that for me.

At the age of 30 fitness, diet, and exercise is very important to me. I would love to win a program that takes all the guess work out. I don’t like wondering what or when I should eat with certain workouts. Just like in the 3 way call I do so much better when someone just tells me what to do and how to do it. I was recently diagnosed with Celiac and if I had to pick a disease I could choose this, all I have to do to remain healthy is change my diet. The challenging part for me is I seem to over compensate on unhealthy stuff because of the restriction on gluten. The cheat day sounds perfect to get my eating under control. Everything I have read and heard so far makes so much sense I just want all the pieces to the puzzle to start my journey. Knowledge is very empowering and I love that professionals like you are working hard at sharing your information and knowledge to help the rest of us on our road to health and well being.

A little over 1 year ago, at the age of 37 I found myself with 2 young boys ages 1 & 3 and 2 foster girls ages 5 & 11. My boys were both born by emergency c-section. I added around 70 lbs between the 2 of them due to bad eating habits and carb cravings from cold turkey smoking cessation. I finally got sick of myself and did something about it. But, with 4 kids running around I definitely needed to find a way to do everything from home. So, my journey began in my very own living room. I only wish I would have taken before and after shots. Feb. 2009 I weighed in at 190 and I am 5′4″. I had the following measurements: chest 44, waist 40, hips 45.5 and thigh 25.5. As of today, my weight is currently 139 with the following measurements: chest 36, waist 29.5, hips 37 and 20.5. I have gone from a size 12-14 to a 4-6 in a years time. I do everything at home with bodyweight resistance, dumbbells, resistance bands, exercise balls, and a treadmill. Well, I have now been between 138-142 for at least 3 months. Here is my dilemma. I have “always” had belly fat…my entire life. And I now know with all the research I’ve done and reading about your program that I don’t have to continue living with a flabby belly. I want to feel stronger and finally achieve that flat belly and from everything I have read about your program, it looks like this could be what I need.

I’m a 44 year old 270 lb power lifter. At my age loosing weight is very difficult without also losing strength. I’ve been using the ‘Metabolic Diet’ and it works great for maintaining my weight and strength, but I think by using your principles, I can shed some extra weight without any decrease in strength. I am 52 years old. There is a history of heart disease in my family and I’m right at that age when the men on my dad’s side of the family have had heart attacks. I had bi-lateral hernia surgery last year and gained a lot of weight and lost a lot of motivation to get back in shape. But I have begun the process. I have lost 40 pounds and almost 10% body fat. But I want more. I want to continue to improve and become the best I can be. I know it’s rather peculiar at my age, but I have also begun the process of becoming a Personal Trainer. I think that there is a market for people my age being trained by people my age. I sincerely believe that equipping myself with and implementing as much practical information as I can, then later on, apply it to training methods for others, would be invaluable. I think this program sounds great. I fall into that middle aged category. My job keeps me in front of a computer all day with the exception of the 30 minute walk I take at lunch. I am not obese, but have gradually found 35 pounds since high school. I would REALLY like to send them back to wherever they came from. ;o) I have also tried a few “diets” with the well know results of loss then gain. I have high cholesterol, but refuse to take the drugs. I know if I can lose this innertube around my middle, that it will help not only the cholesterol, but will also help with the lower back issues I got after a teenage driver saw fit to broadside me while on her cell phone and missed her red light.
I am also a wildlife rehabilitator and want to be healthy for many more years to help the furry critters return to their natural place in the world.

I’m a 45 year old guy who’s been married for 18 years. Like most married guys I’ve packed on quite a few pounds. I’m 6 ft tall and weigh 280 with 45% body fat. I’m on 2 meds and to be quite honest my family is worried about my health. I need a program that lays it out and gets me the quick results I need because I know I can do it, not just for me but for my wife and 10 year old daughter. I’ve tried many other programs but haven’t been able to stick with one. I want to regain the energy and vitality I had 80 pounds ago and if your program is everything you’ve advertised I think you may be just the trainer I need. Hi Joel, I’ve read many books and listened to many talks in my lifetime. I’m presently following The Diet Solution which has motivated me to eat the way I know I should and along with your program, wow, I will be one super healthy Mom and awesome example to my children. Being 49 and heading for 50 in January doesn’t scare me at all. It’s just a number and I know that being healthy doesn’t just happen to people that are lucky, it happens because people like me work at it because of the information they have acquired from people like you who take their knowledge and share it with the world. Quick and to the point. I have tried everything else and here I sit 60yrs old and slowly getting fatter…The fat is the thing, not the scale. Please give me the opportunity to finally win this battle! I grew up the slightly chubby kid. I spent a good deal of my youth participating in sports and bounced back and forth between average and slightly overweight range. In late high school and college I threw myself into fitness and was able to get into good shape.
Then I started grad school and gained weight and just didn’t have the time to be completely fit, but was still dedicated to working out regularly. Between the classes, my internships, work, and the stress even with working out I put on weight. After grad school I decided to throw myself back in, but between work and my boyfriend I didn’t have the time or dedication it took to get back to my former super-fit shape.
In the past year and a half I have bouncing around with I have rededicated myself with some results, but not what I want. It seemed like I was doing good, then had a knee injury from too much running and being too big for my frame. The doctor put me on a painkiller/ steriodlike drug , and in a few weeks I gained all I had lost. I am know off that drug and really looking for a concrete plan that will help me lose this excess baggage. From your daily updates and articles your plan sounds perfect. I t lays out what to do when, what to eat, and no more of my guessing game. With the proper plan I know I will be a success story. Oh and just like your cousin looking to get in great shape before my wedding, and would like to be in better shape before taking my pics for the save the date cards, June 19th.

I am a newlywed (married in September ’09) and we have a wild on the go 2 year old daughter. This program is perfect to help me lose the extra weight to keep up with my daughter and to learn healthy eating habits that we can pass on as our family grows. I have been receiving your updates for the XFLD for a couple weeks now and couldn’t be more excited to get started! I have been running since middle school and even after 12 years in the Army I just can’t seem to get back to my goal weight. I recently just had my 3rd child in January and I typically know what to do to get my body back in shape after having been in the Army all these years. For some reason this time it is so much more difficult. I will loose 5-8 lbs and then gain it back. Your program sounds REAL. I have been on some kind of diet most of my life- the last time I was truly thin was when I was born! Now at 54 and post menopausal, I want to get to a healthier and more attractive weight. I am an emotional eater and need help with that as well. After the loss of my son in 2008, I went through my own brand of grief and depression with lethargy and eating and climbed to my highest weight ever; I have a better handle on that part of my process now and am wanting to shed these extra pounds. So to get to a healthy and happy weight would be XTREME for me!

I don’t know where to start. I am 48 years old and weigh 193 pounds at 5’4″. I am a pre-diabetic and know I need to lose weight. Because I get so discouraged so quickly with the lack of results in dieting and my hectic lifestyle, that I usually get the diet before it gets off the ground. I have two children, 15 and 11, and I would like to change my eating habits for them too. I want them to learn the healthy way to eat instead of grab and go (which is never anything healthy). Why do I need this? I’m turning 60 in a few months. I workout regularly, I watch what I eat and drink; pay attention to a healthy balance of good carbs, protein, healthy fats, even what health and skin care products I use that might be stopping my weight loss but I’m completely out of ideas. I’m always checking out your guidelines, and my husband and I lost already about 20 kilos between the two of us. We are from Venezuela and the information the people of the gyms and fitness center are really kind of crazy ideas more than real information (things like If a woman lift weights is going to make her fat more hard to lose or you HAVE to use a pill to lose fat, etc)

I am 53 and have been yo yo dieting for a couple of years. I would like to lose 20 pounds. I do a diet, lose 5 pounds get discouraged and go right back to my same habits. I want a life change. I have tried following some of the tips you wrote about and have already lost 3 pounds. I am an avid exerciser but would like more advice on building muscle. Everything I read tells me your life change is for me.
