I’m nothing special, you know. I don’t have a sad story. I’ve been overweight all of my life. I’m 28 years old and I have no idea what it feels like not to be fat, not to be disgusting to other people. But something has ‘clicked’ in me recently. Something has fallen in to place that’s never been there before. In the past three months I’ve managed to kick a pack-a-day smoking habit, and wean myself off the anti-depressants I’ve been taking for the past four and a half years.
For the first time in my life, I feel like it might be possible that I’m not a complete waste. I just don’t know how to make my insides match my outsides. I’ve been yo-yo dieting since I was 14 years old. I really have tried everything. I finally believe I can do something about myself – I just don’t know how. From experience i know that having a body i am comftrable makes all the difference between being happy, successful and depressed. I think the this weight loss plan would have extreme potential of giving me that body, with of course a lot of work from me as well. I have gained almost 35 ponds in the lst 8 months due to emotional eating. I know this sounds crazy, and like i have no self control. But, I am someone who loves to run, and eat of fresh food, and basically be fit, but i need some extra support and guidance to get back to were i was. I have read a lot about how you have devised this weight loss/ muscle gain plan, and something about it seems to fit with who i am and how i work. i would absolutely love a copy of it!

I have been trying to lose weight for the last few years because of the wonderful contributing factors of kids, age, and plain old laziness. I’ll start by just saying that I stumbled onto your site about a year ago while looking for info on fat loss. It took me about a week to realize that of all the sites I visited, yours was one of the most informative, least bullshit, straight to the point, and simple to follow sites on the web. I am always looking forward to your emails, I won’t win crap for my submission because I never win anything, but I just wanted you to know that at age 31, you changed my life for the better and gave me inspiration and guidance to move forward with my goals.
My goals are to get my bodyfat down to 15% maximum, to finally do a set of ten pull-ups for the first time in my life, to bench press 200 pounds for three sets of ten, and to reach a point with my body where I can visit the local pool and go shirtless without feeling any self-conscious embarrassment.
I have minimal background with working out. I “went to a gym” for years with no plan, no concrete goals, just a vague notion that lifting weights would improve my looks and my health. In 2010, the realities of getting older and having kids who like to run and play with a Dad who was getting wheezy, tired after just a few minutes was one of many motivating factors to get me going full-time on my health.
My diet has always been very strict (with occasional cheat days of course!), but having the same foods day in day out can be incredibly tiresome! These 2 books would prove invaluable to me, injecting some much needed freshness into my repertoire. It would get me back on the right path and manage my calorie requirements relative to my training. The ability to plan and provide the meal schedule will be key to getting to the energy balance right and fuelling my body for training and recovery.
There is a quote by a silent film actress, Mary Pickford that I like to keep in my mind whenever I lose motivation: “The thing we call failure is not the falling down, but the staying down”. I have fallen many times in my journey, but bloody hell, I’m not staying down this time!!

after many years of taking care of my body, eating right, exercising regulary I left myself down, in a couple of years I got myself +50 pounds overweight, with cholesterol creeping up, thankfully still manageable and nothing too bad healthwise.

Remembering better days, I was pretty fit up until I was honorably discharged from the United States Coast Guard in ’07. About six months before I was to separate I proposed to my girlfriend of two years and I began the process of separation from active duty. I began wedding planning, looking for work and a home where my fiance lived (600 miles from my current station). Needless to say she broke the whole thing off a few weeks before my discharge without a warning. So much for all the love, time, and effort spent on the relationship.
If I’d been a little stronger I would have re-enlisted, but I was hit too hard and I ended moving back “home” to “get over it” after my discharge. As things work out that was not so easy and I put on “some” weight while I was being a weeny, 80 pounds… I don’t feel good, I don’t look good, and I hurt. I’m sick and tired of it. My attitude is much better now, I’m ready to fix the rest and the quicker the better. I’m ready to open a can of whop-ass on myself, can you help?

It’s not massive, but that lingering 15 lbs. and keeping it off! I’m 0ver 50 and “they” say I can not gain muscle any longer…true or not?
I have been a human weight yo-yo all of my life. I am a diet champion; I say this because I have been dieting for over 35 years. I now know that all of these different diets have short term results. I need to get fit and healthy. I am so ready to change my way of thinking and my way of living. This program is perfect for my life right now because I’m focused on losing fat and gaining muscle, and not so much weight loss. That picture of the two girls in bathing suits on the Limiting Factors update really hit home with me – I’m the one that is “Ok” and I really want the one that is smoking hot. I’ve gotten my weight under control, but have yet to find that synergistic balance between diet and exercise that will lead me to build muscle and increase my metabolism to get that smokin’ body. I exercise several times throughout the week and I have been using a cheat day based diet, but have hit a plateau. I have decided this is now my time to shine and get healthy at 46 years of age, after raising our family and working constantly I think it is time to give myself a treat as in look after ME. Menopause etc has taken its toll weight wise and I feel uncomfortable and unfit. You have put so much effort into putting this program together it is only fitting we mere mortals do it justice by putting our heads down, bums up and working to achieve a healthier, longer life. I was always skinny as a child and even after having our children always returned to the normal weight 58kg, but now cannot get away from 78kg, which is disgusting for me! I am sure my husband will also benefit as he is type 2 diabetic, although not overweight at all he does need some motivation to exercise and eat properly, and I believe yur program will infuse a new outlook on both of us. as a former champion surfer, on a local basis, regional at most, my athletic abilities were high profile until i got injured surfing. Humility is the antithesis of trying to sell yourself, but lots of people were aware of the activities i was involved in, such as, training and completing the 2000 Maui marathon, finishing first of all entrants from maryland, delaware and virginia in inaugural Ocean City triathalon, two time md state surfing champ, etc. i got hurt doing what i loved and have spent the last 9 yrs trying to get remedied as well as getting fat.
