I’m a 57 year old male. My kids are finally grown up and out of the house. I have gotten into kayak fishing in the last year and enjoy it. I am out of shape for my 5’10” body frame and suffer from arthritis as well. I need a program that will walk me through exactly what I need to do, allow me to log my progress, and give me meal suggestions I can follow. I was down to 196 years ago following an Adkin’s Diet but recently I have been struggling. I’ve never seen my abs. I’ve never felt comfortable taking my shirt off in public. Why do I need this prgram? Well to put it simply, I am so sick and tired of walking around with so much extra “stuff” on me. I’ve done many diets; jenny craig, atkins, etc and I do my best to excercise regularly but I just can’t achieve the results I really want which is a toned lean body. I love moving and I feel so encumbered by the weight. I am a faithful reader of the emails you send and everything I read I note down. I have been following joel and his fitness ideas for quite sometime and his ideas always worked for me, until my wife passed away. Suddenly i’m the only parent of 4 chldren including one that is a new born. My workouts fell completely off the map. Suddenly i had one priority, my children. Now a few years later 15lbs heavier, 2 of my daughters are in college and i have a little me time and i am getting physically back on track, but i need something extra, something extreme, something that based upon what i know of Joel will work.

Well. I’m an ex-drug addict, I have been clean now for almost four years and have struggled with my weight ever since I stopped using. I am now studying psychology in order to open a rehab here in South Africa. If getting in shape and staying that way is as easy as the last six posts have made it out to be, then this is just what I need to help with my weight problem and not to clutter my schedule.

I started working out about a year ago to try and bulk up, and have gone from 120lbs to 150lbs in that short space of time, but the only problem is I have gone from 7% body fat up to 12% body fat. I have tried everything in the book to lose fat, but I end up only losing weight, barely any of it being fat.
I need to shred the fat from my abs to reveal the 6 pack!!
I feel as though if I lost just a few pounds of fat I would be there, and I know that mentally I am strong enough to follow an extremely strict regime for 25 days.
After listening to the hour long audio conversation you put up the other day, my hunger to do this and get my abs popping out has gone through the roof!

I did not mention in my previous entry that I have started on a course of Bio Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (quite the mouthful, huh?) which should help, hopefully! What’s up with this last ten pounds, anyway? I’ve been trying to beat it for over two years: eat more, eat less, don’t eat sugar, lift weights, do cardio, don’t do cardio, do intervals, max intervals, P-90-you know, blah blah blah. You name it, I’ve tried it. If you think you can fix me, I’m game.

After training like a bodybuilder for more than 6 years I was still not where I should have been from all the hard work that I have done. I have learned so much from your posts also Flavia, Vince, Isabel….just to name a few!
I know there is always more to learn and am dying to know this fool-proof method!
I have many injuries to work around and can no longer train like I am used to.
I am looking for the most effective method to train and hopefully look better than before! I was at that time maintaining about 12% bodyfat and that has increased to about 20%.
My main reason for wanting to try your system is to achieve better results than I previously had at a faster rate…..I guess that I am saying I want to put it to the test!!!

I’ve already made great progress in my quest to reduce my weight and increase my fitness level. The problem is that I’m stuck with 15 to 25 pounds left to go. The strategies that I have used to get me this far don’t seem to be working for the final sprint. Your posts about your new plan inspire me that my goals are possible if I have the right guidance to put the pieces together. You see, I already incorporate cheat days and fasting days in my plan as well as metabolic resistance traning, but your plan will tell me exactly how to eat and what exercises to do before and after a cheat day to maximize weight loss. I feel that these are the missing pieces to my success and I hope to get the chance to try them out.

I’m 51, soon turning 52, and I want to get in the best shape of my life. I’m not obese, never have been, but want to learn the best way to reduce my fat percentage, build a bit more muscle definition, and lose maybe 20 pounds. My biggest problem is the middle, or my ab area. Still a bit of fat there, and I have really curbed bad eating habits, and am working out with weights and machines 3 days a week on my lunch hour. The things I like about your program, or at least the bit I know about, is the fact of needing to eat correctly, and exercising efficiently. I’m 6’0″. I should weigh about 180. I weigh 215. A couple of years ago I spent the money for a personal trainer who put me through hell 3 days a week for 4 months and I got down to 185, more muscle, and felt great. It took forever to put the weight back on. So I know I can go on auto pilot and concentrate for at least a month. I don’t smoke, quit drinking 3 weeks ago just to get ready for this. I’m retired (early) so I think I have the time. I have no medical issues. I refuse to buy any fat clothes. I live next to Tonto National Forest (mountainous) where I intend to do my cardio. My horse would appreciate the weight loss as much as I would.

You’re extreme fat loss diet will work because I’m going to put my husband in it, upto now nothing has worked for him. He’s got all of his fat around his tummy, and it seems to just grow and grow, and I’m worried about his health and well being. Plus it will help me, I’ve not been able to do much while I’ve been suffering with a nasty back injury, I’ve put a few extra pounds on, and guess where they have gone you ve got it , in the tummy area.

I’m 63 years young and having a very difficult time losing weight. I’d like to prove to myself and others that this program will work for women in my age group. I have Hashimoto’s disease which requires me to take thyroid meds. but I generally feel good and want to enjoy life to the fullest. I don’t have to be super skinny, just fit into my size 8-10 wardrobe comfortably. I’m only 5 foot 1 inch tall so every extra pound looks like five.
