At this point in my life I’m about to turn 40. I’ve accomplished a lot but have let my health go. I’m over 250lbs and it needs to change now. I’m dusting off the weight set but need a program and guidance. My son is a runner and I take him to every practice and meet. He has inspired me to stop my “I should workout” to “Damn it! I AM going to get healthy!” We’re having a garage sale to clear room for the weight set and I’m going to town.

The main reason I need your program though: I want to be around to see my kids grow up and see their kids. I want to be more active with my kids and my wife. My entire family is fit, except me. I can’t go on long bike rides or long hikes and we love to camp and be outside. I don’t want to sit on my ass any more and do nothing. I don’t want to be limited. It’s time to take action… NOW!

First off, thanks for the free info provided so far. The cheat days strategy you outlined in one of your reports seems to work, because I’m finding it easier now to stay around 13% body fat. High Joel, thanks for your tips about foods. Simply put, my job is my worst enemy at getting fat. I work irregular hours, at meal times, eating anywhere but at home and that is when I eat. So here comes the chips, chocolate, sandwiches, cokes etc. Now that I have started reading about good foods I try to bring along what I need for the day. But I certainly have a lot of fat to loose while I work on keeping my proper weight with good food. Having all the hard work of finding what is good or not done for me is gold for me. I’ve been interested in exercise and diet for over 20 years, but haven’t seen my abs, clearly for at least 15 of those years, much to my frustration. My story, is by no means unique, like many guys out there, I tend to swing from, trying to gain muscle and strength, only to get gain more fat than muscle! To trying to get ripped, only to lose muscle and strength, well before I see any signs of a six-pack! I have followed your teachings over on Tnation and I’m very interested in the effects of leptin on weight loss. I have started using your methods outlined in “the 5 sneaky tricks”. I am currently using a cheat day, followed by a fast day, ever 5 days and have seen enough success to get me hooked. I am determined to see my abs again, whilst at least maintaining a reasonable degree of muscle. I believe your system holds the key, for me to unlock the puzzle of a lean muscular physique, some thing I have dreamed of since being a child. Your system will not be wasted on me, I’ve spent the last 15 years being a nearly man, nearly lean or nearly muscular, but not quite either and never both. I if I’m lucky enough to gain access to your system, I will put 100% into it and you will have given me the tools to pretty much end my frustration and change my life.

Joel, I am 41 yrs old and am getting out of a verbally abusive marriage that lasted 7 yrs. Unfortunatly I used food to comfort myself during all these years and between the food and stress I have put on more weight than I want to admit too. I am 41,next week is the one year anniversary of my wife’s passing. I have three kids and a grandbaby. I need to lose some weight and eat healthier so that maybe I can feel better,can share this with my kids so they might feel better and we all can take care of ouselves to give me a better chance to live longer or have less problems later especially now that it is Jesus and me only now for them. Hi Joel. I have been struggling with my weight for a very long time. I have tried so many diets which i couldn’t sustain for long, end up adding more after stopping or doesn’t seem to see any result.
I had a baby last year and this has made me add more weight and now i weigh 260lbs. I am returning back to work very soon and i feel ugly, out of shape and not confidence about myself at all.
I need to shed a lot of weight and want to do that as fast as i can in order to gain confidence and look smart when i go back to work. I have been searching for a kind of diet that can make me achieve this but to no avail until i came across your programme and it looks like it has been tailor made me. I am deployed in Afghanistan and have been assigned to the Battalion headquarters. My job is at a desk – with 3 computers – and I’m 54 years old.
I have recovered from a dislocated shoulder [7x] and 2 operations, the last operation being 18 months ago. At 230 pounds I’m in ok to good shape considering, but i want to drop back to 205. Its funny that your program and the amount i want to lose line up so well, and this is the first time deployed that i can actually control what gets served to me.

I’m not sure how many you get in my age group, and some programs only work for the ‘youngsters’ but what I’ve read so far isn’t out of line per my medic – so lets do this.

talking about wants for a moment, the Army wants me to weigh less – again 205 is the target, my wife wants me to weigh less – lots of good support even if it is thousands of miles away, and i want to weigh less. when i move back to the line i need to be fit and physically ready for the dangers we face.

while we are here winning the hearts and minds of the people, there are still those that plant road side bombs [IEDs] to kill the troops. My company hunts those bombs and gets rid of them. the better shape you’re in, the more likely you are to survive a blast.

After having dropped 65 lbs of yucky fat pretty much on my own (read: no trainer or nutritionist, just good information found and bought on the Net) I have a remaining yo-yo mass of about 15 lbs that stubbornly refuses to definitively part company with me.
I’m getting married in the fall, and know those 15 lbs will bug me when all eyes will be on me in THAT dress :) which I bought when the yo-yo mass was at its lowest.
Please help! At this stage I know a new approach would shock my system into shedding those last lbs …

I have just turned 50 and have tried diet after diet after diet and still cannot loose weight. I do for a while but then turn around and gain it all beck plus some. I have bad knees and I have just been diagnosed as being borderline diabetic. I need a program like yours that can teach me the right way to loose weight and exercise to become a healthier individual. My husband also needs to loose weight. He is a diabetic, and has high blood pressure and a heart condition. If I win this program, my husband and myself can both become healthier in our senior years together.

Hey Joel, Sorry but I have learnt to be very skeptical as I have tried just about everything advised and going out there. This hasn’t been easy as I’m disabled, and having had a failed back surgery back in 93′. I found ways thru exercise and nutrition to lose most of the added weight, but absolutely cannot shift this blubberous tire on my obliques going round to my back. I am now not far off of 50, and if you have not only a solution but that is also permanent, you would truly have earned a fan. Thank you for your time, Scott.

I keep reading all your emails and updates and think that they are really wonderful, optimistic and packed with lots of useful information for all those frustrated people, me being one of them. Thank you so much for all your hard work! I would really love to win a copy of your program, because I have had weight problems all my life, although I always tried to exercise regularly and eat right. After having two children in a short 3 and a half years and a lot of sleep deprivation, my metabolism became worse than ever! I really need to fix it and lose 25 extra lbs, which make me look much older and uglier and really slow me down :( For the past year I’ve tried to diet and exercise as much as could squeeze in my busy life of a mom of two little children, losing a few pounds but then gaining them back again, which makes me really frustrated.
