Right now I want to lose around 50 pounds in 16 weeks. I know it could take me a little longer but I think I could be close. I am starting graduate school in a few weeks and would like to be in shape for most of it, definitely by the end of the first semester. I am hoping to get on research excursion to a remote location which would require me to pass a physical for that specific remote area. I know I would be furious if I could not go or not be considered because of my weight. I would be happy with 50 pounds but would like closer to 60.

Are you looking to gain muscle, lose fat, both?
What are your specific goals for the next 16 weeks? How many pounds do you want to lose (or gain) in that time?

My goal is to lose 50 lbs in 16 weeks and also lose abdominal fat.
At the age of 39 I decided to get back in shape after having four kids (now 12,11,9,and 5). I hired a trainer, tracked my diet and exercise and finally lost 15 pounds (from 170 to 155, I’m 5’10”). I was strong and I looked great. Unfortunately, my efforts came to a stop when I had recurring calcific tendonitis and consequently had surgery for it last April. Luckily, nothing was torn. I’m afraid to lift the heavy weights I was lifting before that helped me to achieve my goal for fear of hurting my shoulder again. MY GOAL IS to overcome my shoulder issue and lose another 10-15 lbs. of fat. Any help you can offer me would be great. Wish me success!
P.S. Every orthopedic surgeon I ask says that NO ONE should lift heavy weights overhead.
I plan on making my goal of 180 pounds with 25% or less body fat. I am 56 years old and 67″ tall (currenly at 205, 27%). I know that I can maintain 180 and have set this as a goal. When I get there, I may want to go lower. I will make that decision when I get there.
My goal is to lose 15 pounds and make better eating and lifestyle choices for me and my family.

I just had a tonsilectomy/adenoidectomy exactly one month ago today. I wasn’t able to participate in the holiday edition program that you offered. (i wasn’t able to eat for almost 3 1/2 weeks). So no turkey dinner for me at Thanksgiving & probably Christmas too :(. No worries about putting on any of those unwanted holiday pounds. (LOL!) Also, I have yet another surgery, chronic sinusitis in the ethmoid, maxillary, sphenoid sinus cavities & deviated septum, scheduled for December 22, 2010. My goal is to get healed up & work my way up to the 1,000 calorie challenge. I want to lose another 20-25lbs. of fat. as well as be toned, lean,& fit in the New Year! Merry Christmas & Happiest New Year Joel & Family! Thank-you so much for creating and sharing all your good information. Information=POWER to change! YEAH!! :>
I am a 17 year old girl. 162 cm tall, current weight 54 kg
The goal that i set was :
-to decrease my body fat percentage (23,6%) down to about 11%
– be able to finally see those abs that have been covered by a layer of fat for ages now (although i am counted as a lean person, this area is my problem zone ever since i can think)
– keep and increase lean muscle mass
-seek for a leaner body (especially around the core and tights area)
I tried to calculate myself an ideal but still realistic time in which i should be able to accomplish my goal.
Start of my challenge -> 22.11.2010,
I decided to give myself about 6 months time to achieve my goals
End of challenge/ accomplished date -> 22.5.2011
~ so far i can say i’ve stayed firm to my plan as i stayed consistent with my meal plans and its frequency and of course my workouts.
from 22nd November to my last measurements (5.12.2010) showed, that ive dropped my bodyfat percentage weekly:
Actuell BFP 21.6%
My goal is to lose 40 pounds and gain some good muscle. I weigh 185 pounds and will keep going to the gym. I love to run and play water polo hopfully that’ll help tome me.
Hi Joel, Over the next 16 weeks, I would like to lose 16 lbs and increase my exercise 100%. My exercise is currently minimal because of work, college, and a special needs son. I am too tired and out of extra hours….something I want to completely obliterate! Losing weight and increasing exercise will improve my health, my mobility, my energy level, my self-esteem, and my ability to complete my college while keeping up with the energy and demands of my special needs child!
Goal is to loose 10 kg of fat and gain 5-7 kg of muscle, cardio 1-2 times per week and weight lifting 2 times per week, my goal is to achieve a 8-10% fat percentage, want to build muscle to help me burn more fat and make easier to stay in shape
Goal: Losing 2 lbs a week for 16 weeks = 32 lb loss by March 23. With the loss of fat, I’d expect more strength in my arms and legs from the exercise that can help meet this goal. #162 to 130 would make a good difference. Not done, but a big help.
I am 51 years old, 5’5″ and 152 lbs. I will be finishing grad school in 16 weeks and my goal is to lose 20 lbs, and to be stronger and leaner by then, as well.
I have been slowly losing the weight. I am down from 195 to 173. I am at the weight I want, but I still have that roll of fat (not huge, but TOO BIG) that hangs over my jeans. I want to lose that roll of fat and have a lower percentage of body fat.
I have been very inactive for about 10 years due to my knees and having to stay home and home care my husband. He died this year and I have begun to focus on me. I am 67 and I have lost 45 pounds with about 55 more to go. My plan is to start walking as my knees are not as painful as they were and do stretching exercises daily. Before my knees gave out I was walking 2 1/2 miles a day and doing arobics. Amazing what inactivity does to one’s body!
