I am ready to hear of something that does both
The start of a new week…the start of a new blog series…about…
Gaining muscle and losing fat at the SAME time!
What inspired the topic? Well, believe it or not, apart from the many “couldn’t care less about my body” folks lounging around the beach this past weekend, there were actually quite a few really good looking peeps sporting some pretty killer bods!
Lean and muscular – which I think most of my male readers would agree to be the “ideal” physique.
I mean, even if you’re female, you’re bound to want something similar – lean and “toned”, if you will.
Everybody wants a lean, sexy body they can be proud of…that’s why we do what we do.
But just how do you go about achieving THAT body?
Gain muscle first, then lose body fat? Vice versa?
OR maybe you might try to lose fat and gain muscle at the SAME time.
Unfortunately, 99% of people who try the latter option fail miserably.
Can it be done?
Yes. But ONLY with a very strategic approach.
Weight training + fat loss diet does NOT equal simultaneous fat loss and muscle gain.
Sorry, there’s a heck of a lot more to it than that.
Have you ever tried to lose fat and gain muscle simultaneously? What were your experiences?
Would you like to know how to REALLY lose fat and gain lean muscle at the same time?
At least 600 comments and I’ll be back before you know it to go over several critical components to simultaneous fat loss and lean body mass gain. And as long as the comments keep coming, I promise to give you killer content on this subject all week.
Talk to you in the comments section!
Joel

Joel,
This is a little off topic, though I think a lot of your readers will enjoy said question.
How much can protein can the body ingest in one sitting?
I was shopping for my monthly protein powder and the store resident was trying to sell me on hydrolised Vs. isolate. He was built, so I didn’t doubt his credentials and I do know that hydrolised is better than isolate.
I said that fiscally it didn’t make sense as my dietary needs require 200+ grms daily. And isolate is a quality product.
He asked “how many grms are you taking at once? Did you know the body can only absorb 30-40grm at a time.”
I take at least 60+ in my shake after a workout and there abouts any other time I “shake it up”
He then said that all the extra protein I’m taking is being wasted..
Any truth to this??
Cheers big ears!
Would looooove any advice on this topic. After having my second child, I am now up to working out 7 days a week, a combo of strength, HIT, circuit, running, and zumba for one to two hours a day. I am STILL not seeing the results I had before my second child, and my diet is pretty clean and lean….WTH?!!!! Grrrr estrogen and cortisol is all I can think of…
:(
can’t wait to see what the strategies are. you’re awesome.
hi, i have tried gaining muscle and loosing fat at the same time, and i have achieved that goal. BUT, i did hit a plateu, and it’s causing me to stay where im currently at, 140 lbs, 10-11% body fat.
I know there’s a more, and better approach to that topic. That’s where you come in Joel. :)
Can’t wait to hear more! Thanks for your help.
I’ve recently turned 40 and am now exercising and eating better than I have ever done in my life. Yes I am looking for lean & muscular at the same time. As I understand it, building my muscles will help me to lose the fat as muscle speeds up my metabolism. It’s working, but slow. Since September, very little change in weight but my clothes feel better on me (I’ve dropped a size) and my shape is changing for the better.
I am really looking forward to your tips on the subject. Bring them on – I can’t wait!
Yeah guy!
Can’t wait…
Looking forward to seeing your strategies.
Yes, very keen to hear to you have to say. Thanks.
I wanna to know how to do it
Joel,
I am ready to hear your thoughts…
Just finished the 10wk 1000kcal Challenge – awesome. Didn’t loose any overall weight, but lost a few cm’s around the mid section, and packed on some balanced muscle. A lot of joint pain that I used to think was normal – gone. Posture – big improvement. Fitter than i have been in 10 years (hit 30 last year). Clothes all fit better and feel stronger than ever. Got a bunch of mates together and built a 7m long chin-up bar so that we could all do this challenge together. Only 3 of us actually finished it. Everyone (even the dropouts) lost weight & gained muscle definition (except me, my weight remained almost exactly the same every week, but i don’t really care as i’ve chunked on some good muscle…).
I recommend the 1000kcal Challenge to anybody who wants to test themselves, anybody who wants to be able to drop some clothes sizes – anybody who wants to be able to enjoy the great outdoors again with fitness and strength. Oh, and what an amazing feeling when you finish the final set!
Keep the info coming.
As a guy who very easily puts on weight/fat I am interested in the thoughts and programs put together by people who have the same challenges.
Cheers,
From the Aussie Land
