Hi Joel:
I’m a 60 year old post menopausal woman who has managed to put on 20 pounds since hitting 50. I have always been fit and active, jogging, aerobics and resistance training, but nothing has worked for me to take this weight off. I have tried every diet known to man, but I really can’t sustain the will power to stick with them. What I need is a way of eating that will help me lose the weight and that I can use as a lifestyle way of eating. I read everything that I can find regarding diet and health and I think that your system might be what wiil work for me.
I’m going to make this post extremely quick and easy.

Joel,
I am 52 years old and I had hip replacement surgery in December 2008. In January 2009 I started physical therapy for the hip and I began watching my nutrition and started a weight training program. Less than 1 year later I have lost 55 lbs and 9 inches around my waist. I have also put on muscle on my arms, legs, shoulders, and all over my body.
I am pretty close to where my weight should be but I still have some body fat I would like to lose around my waist. I will continue my weight training and try to put on more muscle and continue to lose fat, while not necessarily losing weight. I am now measuring my progress with the tape measure not the weight scale.
I believe that your program sounds like the perfect method for me phase into a maintenance regime, rather than a calorie restricted regime for weight loss.
I have learned a lot reading your posts and e-mail updates and I hope to learn more from your book.
Thank you,
Hector
Why do I need this program?? I have been struggling to get out of starvation mode for 6 years now and my natural doc has no clue what to do to help me anymore. My midwife told me about starvation mode and told me I had to EAT. Well, I just gained horribly and cannot lose it because she does not know the PROPER way to handle this situation.
I’ve done pretty much every diet/lifestyle change out there, I’ve even gone through the hcg protocol for a year and have lost fat, but then I gain afterwards because I cannot make myself eat enough!
Even when I EXCESSIVELY work out 3x a week only to lose a few pounds!
I’ve starved myself so much that hunger pains are rarely ever felt and it is a horrible habit for me to not eat all day. I have to do something that allows me to stop thinking that food is my enemy! I need HELP getting out of starvation reflex mode! I need to get this 50 lbs off so I don’t further damage my hips and spine (autoimmune spondylitis at age 35!).
I also have a weightloss blog journal and am anxiously awaiting to share with them how well your program really works for those of us with messed up metabolisms!
(I hope this post didn’t repeat since my post yesterday still isn’t there today!)
I am a 37 year old graduate student who was been lifting intensely for the past 7 years, without any substantial, or consistent fat loss. I am a former college (small) athlete, as was my wife, but academics and having children have allowed us to negatively alter our nutritional standards, going for “quick” options for dinner; which doesn’t always mean healthy.
I work out 3-4 times per week and I have seen increased muscle mass over the last 7 years, but little fat loss. I have been eating better (more fibrous carbs, very little pasta, good fats, and heaps of protein) with little results. I have tried no-to-low carb with decent results, but it was very difficult to maintain this lifestyle, especially when eating as a family, as I did not want to show my children how to be “picky eaters.” They eat very healthy, with a lot of fruit and vegetables and I am glad about that. My wife and I eat similarly, but don’t see the results, either short or long-term.
I know that my wife and I can see the results we want with your program.
Thank you for reading my comments.
Hi, I am going to be 50 in June and told my husband i DO NOT want to be fat when I turn 50. I am around 225 lbs and love to eat. My husband weighs around 360, has high blood pressure, other health issues and also enjoys eating. Our daughter, 14, is around 175. Our son, 12, weighs over 200 lbs. Needless to say we, as a family, need to embrace your system. We have been trying to lose weight over the years, in many different ways. We started AGAIN beginning in 2009, watching what we ate, exercising and keeping a log of our weekly weigh-ins. The weight would fluctuate, lose then gain, and sometimes, just gain. Often we would just quit. It was depressing for all. For us as parents, trying to help our son(who loves to eat) lose weight to be healthy AND not be made fun of at school, it was heartbreaking. I began reading your emails about the mild starvation mode we were putting our bodies in, how the leptin is lacking when dieting and it began to make sense. Then, in reading how we can lose weight by “cheating” and regulating our intake to re-boost our metabolism, I became excited. Maybe, FINALLY, there is hope for a family that loves to eat, to become a healthy family! Thank you for the time spent in research and your generous offer
Joel,
I know this works. I too once ate very well, and plateaued. I then had a bad weekend (Thanksgiving weekend). At weigh in time, I had lost weight. I could not believe it!!! I tried to eat that way and I got in a lot better shape than I am now.
I never understood the science behind it, and at this point in my life in my early 30’s, and about 50 lbs heavier than I want to be, I want to go back to what I know works.
I have no sad story, just a work stressed, overweight, tired, family guy.
Jeremy
Hi Joel,
Today is my 48th birthday and since hitting my forties my body and hormones are changing. The need for “dieting” was never an issue but I now carry an extra 50 lbs that I need to get rid of. I feel uncomfortable with myself and any diet I have tried works for 5 maybe ten lbs and then I stall and end up putting more weight on than came of. Since reading your information this system that you have put together sounds like it makes sense. No grapefruit before eating, no points, no cabbage soup just sense. I like the idea of legally cheating. I want to be able to enjoy my life and not have it revolve aroung food. There is more to living that what I can and cannot put in my mouth.
Thank you for the opportunity!
Hi Joel, I am 48 female and have been overweight for about 10 years. I like many have tried every fad diet. purchased every book and gimmicky product over the years. Since moving to Cyprus 2 years ago I have been working out 4-5 times a week and my weight has yo-yo’d the most I’ve lost is 10lbs in 2 weeks using Isabel De Rios programme which was fantastic but now I’ve hit a plateau and have been unable to shift anymore for several weeks, which caused me to drift back to my old eating habits. I read a lot of information on the internet and find I am drawn to your ‘cheat your way thin’ programme and am very impressed with your methods and honesty and feel this could be the answer!
Hello!
As usual I’m skeptical when I read about the latest and greatest program for losing weight and looking fine. But something caught me about this program. The information was logical and sensible, and more importantly something that is NEEDED AND WANTED. Nobody I know wants to be deprived.
It occurs to me that the body has figured out what we’ve been trying to do to it and has outsmarted us. Now Mr. Marion has figured out a way to outsmart the body. How timely! How fantastic! This is modern civilization! Who can exist by eating just protein, or by drinking shakes or working out until your eyes pop out?! And, come on, Thanksgiving and Xmas is right around the corner. We need to be with our families, eat and be merry and not have to worry about gaining 10 more lbs.
Bring it on, Mr. Marion. I’m 57, pudgy (ugh, hate that word, but it’s true), still have lots of life left in me because I’m very active and very interested in other people. I would love to spit this fat problem in the eye and say BEGONE! I would feel better and look better. When a person feels better and looks better they are able to help others better as well. And that’s my aim.
Thank you for all the free info you’ve given us in the last few days.
Best regards,
Eva
At 77 years of age I am interested in your program as I have never lost the pounds that I gained with my six children. My husband and I live a busy life, volunteering with Faith in Action, taking people long distance to their Doctor and Hospital Appointments. Some days we do not arrive home until late and it is easy to not cook. Your Program sounds as if it would finally allow me to get rid of the fat and keep and add to my lean muscles. I can only hope that it is not too late in our lives. Your Program sounds like an answer to my Prayers. I would like us to be healthy and lean again. Thank You for the chance.
Dear Joel and Team,
I need to win assess to the information in your Cheat Your Way Thin Holiday Edition! You have taught me so much with your daily emails and I look forward to them each morning. I am a stay-at-home mother of 2 daughters and I am working hard to pass on these new healthy habits to my girls, too.
You have showed me why diets don’t work. This was eye-opening to me because I have been dieting since my teenage years and still have not found the perfect fit at age 39. I was excepted as a Bariatric Surgery patient, but made the decision to commit to exercise and a healthy diet instead. I now understand how my body continues to move into survival mode and how carbohydrate cycling will cause me to drop the weight.
After learning about the hormone Leptin, I began to look at diet and weight loss in a new light.
This would be the perfect fit for me!
I really don’t have a spectacular story to tell. I’m a simple 30-year-old gal of 5’ and 147 pounds who wants to drop about 20 of that in fat. Last year I decided to try a famous weight loss diet. Within two and a half months I lost an amazing 17 pounds without exercise and through the 3 major Holidays! It was fantastic! They have a great support system and I’ve made some great friends. But then I hit a plateau. I have tried all of their tips and tricks to drop more and nothing has worked. I do eat my own foods; watch my portion sizes eat lean meats, veggies, salad, and fruits. And keeping away from the things I enjoy makes me only want them more at times. I get at least 30 minutes of exercise in 5 days a week and even started adding some weights. But the scale only seems to be going up in fat and BMI, not muscle mass. I don’t want to be in the fat group, I want to be lean. I want to be stronger mentally and physically. I am sick of feeling like a failure, like nothing I can do besides starve myself (which we all know won’t help) will work. Please help so I can get the scale moving in the right direction and get healthier.
Hi Joel:
My new strategy for weight loss is to avoid the foods that contain lots of unhealthy fats. I alternate one day of all fruits (more citrus with least sugar), another with all veges fresh/steamed (least starchy ones) seasoned w Mrs Dash, third day fruits n veges, fourth day soups (hot/cold), fifth day tossed/stir-fry fruits n veges (hot/cold), sixth and seventh days are treat days – but keep them healthy.
Serving portions normally served to young children or use dessert plates NOT dinner plates.
Drink water with meals! Drink water with fruits to take care of the sweet cravings. :D
Organic/grass fed proteins, whole grains, fruits and veges are the best. Any snacks (2-hr intervals) consist of organic nuts, fruit or veges.
Organic herbal teas are a must! Grow them in pots, brew at home, store in thermos/fridge, drink at leisure. Fresh mint, cinnimon, vanilla and chammomile are my favorites but you can decide for yourself – the spices list is like Christmas!
Remember, it is your new lifestyle – so treat yourself like the queen/king that you are! Live large, love strong, share often! This is your moment! :D
Hi Joel,
I do everything Jen Heath tells me too, except when it comes to cheats – my P+F+C combinations are atrocious, if I get to eat 150 grams of carbs, I’ll make sure it is in Oreos or Snickers. I need a better way, and sweet potatoes just don’t do the it for me. I’d love to see how to make your program work with my Macro Cycling. Thanks!
Hi Joel:
I am a 60 year old post menopausal woman and have managed to gain 20 pounds since hitting 50. I have paid attention to my weight and fitness all my life, so being unable to lose this weight has been very depressing for me. I have been on every diet known to man and worked out, (jogging, aerobics and resistance training) and nothing is helping, I’ve started to lose hope. I need a way of eating that is healthy and that I can sustain in my life. I think that your system might it.
Why do I want this book?
Because for once in my life I would like to give myself every opportunity to succeed instead of every excuse to fail.
After years of yo-yo dieting, I found myself 65 pounds overweight – my heaviest ever – six months ago. I’ve managed to lose 20 of them but the last few months have found me hitting a plateau (yet again) that I haven’t found a way to overcome. 45 pounds to go seems like an enormous task right now. I understand how to exercise and enjoy it and its benefits. I understand what I’m supposed to eat but have found most diets so restrictive that I cannot maintain them long-term. With the Holidays and family get-togethers coming up, I want to stay healthy and lose weight, but don’t want to be the Grinch who couldn’t eat and was very grumpy as a result. Your book sounds like the perfect solution for me and a great way to finally strike a balance between what I know I should eat and what I actually want to eat.
Hi Joel,
I am so sceptical. I am fatty since age 5 ; I am now 40… with a lot of diet and desillusion. So tell ME how you could change my life ? I don’t know why I should believe you more than all the millions other way suggested to get lean… OK you’ve got one thing out of me now, curiosity, that’s why I decided to reply to your contest offer.
Thanks anyway,
Lucie
Dear Joel and “team,”
I am a professional dieter. I have been on and off of diets since 1981, when I was in the 8th grade. I started to gain weight in middle school and once weighed almost 400 lbs. I have been training on and off for the past ten years with different trainers. Lately, I have really been focused and going to boot camp three days a week for 90 minutes. However, I continue to intermittently make really bad food choices.
I am a lot more toned, fit and happy. However, I still weigh a lot more than I want to. I need something that is easy to prepare, foods that travel well, I work late three nights a week and that are filling. I am a hungry girl. I feel that once I get the “total” package of food+ fitness, I will be well on my way to my 200 lb. goal! Yes, I said it, 200–I am almost six feet tall and that weight will make me the perfect size 12~ that is what I need!! Thank you!!
Hey Joel,
Congratulations on all these comments.
Good luck in going through all these comments.
This is a quality problem to have.
Proud of you bro.
Hi Joel
I realated to your story when you talked about being a trainer and not being able to get a handle on your cravings. That feeling of “fraud” when you talk the talk but have a hard time walking the walk is such a feeling of defeat. I too am a trainer and I love sharing my passion for health and fitness with my clients. I believe in hard work and healthy eating but I am sick and tired of not looking the part. I have very devoted clients that I have seen come so far in their fitness training yet still struggle with their eating habits and nutrition level. I help them as much as I can but deep inside I know that they lack the motivation to change because I have not been an example to follow. I would love the opportunity to be able to learn from you so that I can not only benefit from it but pay it forward to all the people that are in my life either professionally or personally. I believe that when you know better you do better so I am asking you Joel to help me know better.
Even if I don’t get the free copy I appreciate all the info you have already sent out there for free. I love it when fitness professionals help eachother out with their knowledge so that we can pass it on.
Thanks again
Maria
hi joel well lets see about 5 years ago i went on the atkins diet and it worked great i lost about 30 lbs. felt great but my job that i had at time required me to travel extensively and i found it was not conducive to keeping weight off especially when u fall into the trap of i lost all this weight so it wont matter if i eat this and soon i had gained it all back i am 5ft. 7 in. weighed 200 lost 30lbs. on atkins then balloned up to 230lbs up until last november then an incredible amount of stress was introduced into my life over the course of the last year i have lost 60 lbs with the incredible stress weight loss diet but i do feel better now and have recently begun to excercise again with your tips and the excercise plans given by nick nillson i find that i am stronger and healthier i have forwarded all your e-mails to a friend who thinks she is overweight but i can attest that she is not but the holiday tips she recieved have given her anew perspective on how to conduct her appetite over the holidays thank you for those tips they are very easy and informative i look foward to recieving your videos on the net since i can get a better grasp of your sincerity and as you speak i find that you are very informative and believable .i myself thru your tips and nicks find myself feeling great and just wanted to say thank you and that the idea of cheating my way thin is more palatable than a strictly regimented diet i know its similar to the atkins but seems to me to be easier i especially like the no guilt aspect of what you are saying in your posts that is the biggest flaw in all other diets i understand the importance of keeping your metabolism in high gear and find you explain it very well again thank you for your help in keeping the weight off and you have a great program going here i have recomended it to every body i talk to who expresses a desire to lose weight and keep it off thanks again have a nice thanks giving . mike
I have tried various diets and guidelines but could not lose the weight that I needed to or wanted to. Diets are soo time consuming and cost a lot and just do not work. I want to lose some more weight so I can spend more time with my son being active. My husband is disabled and cannot do active things with him and with me still being overweight I do not have the energy to do it. I also have an underactive thyroid so this program will be perfect to work on the leptin and naturally work on the rest. I hope you choose me as a winner as the program sounds wonderful and I know it would help me. I have already spoken to several of my friends about the program and I cannot wait to learn more.
thank you
Hi Joel, I am ready to loose extra kilos and stay that way. I have been on several diets lost weight but put it back on again. I have to loose weight to drop the blood pressure and to lead a healthy life, feel good and obviously look good as well.
Over the years I have tried more diet plans than I can count. The one I am currently on is extremely restrictive and does not allow any room at all for “cheating”. Because of this, I do well for just so long (usually 3-4 days) and then I binge eat on anything I can find. After the binge, I’m fine. It’s like a reset button, and then I do well for another few days. I love to exercise, so that end of the fitness plan is never a problem for me. But today I weigh 11 pounds more than I did when I started the plan a couple months ago! I feel like I was doing better without the plan. Once you restrict my comfort food to the point where I can’t have ANY, it’s like my brain and body rebel, and I end up gaining weight instead of losing it because I can’t handle the restriction. It’s a complete mental thing..if I know I can’t have it..it makes me want more and I overdo it. I want to be an inspiration to someone someday. I want to be that person in the gym that people say “can you help me?”, I want to be a top inspirational member on Bodybuilding.com, I want to have energy to spend time with my 27-year-old horse. I want to stop the depression and anger and resentment and frustration that comes upon me whenever I eat something I’m not supposed to. I can’t enjoy church functions, I can’t go to parties, and I can’t host parties for my good friends if I can’t enjoy food in the process. It makes me miserable. I skip out on events so that I’m not tempted, only to binge eat at home because I’m thinking about the food. I feel this program would be perfect for me because I do have the self-control, but only for a few days. I binge eat because it’s “forbidden” and I think I’ll never be able to have this again. But if I know it’s allowed, after I “suffer” for a while under restriction, then I can enjoy my favorite foods, plan my diet around events instead of skipping them, and not get depressed..which is the worse part. Also, how can I be a role model of healthy eating and lifestyle for my family if I teach them that they can never have a cookie? What kind of life is that? God gave us taste buds so that we could enjoy our food. If anything, all the restrictions just make me eat more. Yes, I’m sure the program I’m on right now will work if I can follow it, but I can’t. I end up gaining weight. I end up resenting myself, exercise, and good healthy food. I need to know how I can incorporate my favorite foods into my week. Just knowing that my cake is waiting for me at the end of my restrictive cycle would empower me to work even harder during that time, and just say “well it’s only x days away.. then you can have your cake and eat it too..and not get depressed over it!” That gives me goosebumps.
Hello!
I feel like I’ve tried whatever’s on the market when it comes to dieting, and loosing weight. Everytime I have my hopes up, and everytime the disappointment comes crawling after some time. Earlier, I have restricted myself from eating my favorite food when I’m on a diet. When I, after a while, give up on my diet, something I always do in the end, I overeat, especially the food that I have restricted myself from.
I am a single mum, my two kids are very active, and every day is mostly a stressful day. It’s hard to keep a diet, and time for going to the gym? No way….. When I look in the mirror I get sad, and decide to go on another diet, but the next day, I get up, eating without thinking. The hardest times are the evenings alone, after the kids are in bed….. I have to have something good to eat!
I’m looking forward to see what this programme can do for me, all you say makes sense…..
Love from Anna-Lene, Norway
