The problem isn’t really losing weight but the lifetime maintenance. I have been successful in weight reduction and am able to maintain reduction but after about 3-4 years, the weight starts creeping back up. Then after about 3 years of gradual weight gain – I need to start over again. I’ve done this four times since my late 20’s. Being in my mid-50’s now – and in the cycle of after three years of low BMI, the weight is starting to come back – I am looking for that last piece of the puzzle that can help me keep a healthy weight which allows me to do the physical activity I enjoy so much. I plan to be skiing, scuba diving and ballroom dancing until I’m 100!

I KNOW this system will work. I’m a nutritionist who works in research myself and I know the physiology Joel presents is sound. I’m 53 and dieting has been hard all my life. Keeping ketosis AND leptin high seems prefect. I could work the dietary details myself buy it would take me a very very long time;dietary management is not my field of reserach. I appreciate the nice work Joel Marion has done and in my busy schedule, I’d be great to have sceintifically-robust and time-free system that WILL work. Many thanks

Joel,

With some extra time on her hands a couple of years ago, my girlfriend became a great cook. She learned some dishes that quickly became my favorites, including the best chocolate chip cookies I have every had. Seriously. She loved cooking, and the pleasure of sharing a great meal was a big part of your lives. Now, she’s my fiancee, and we’re both on different diets trying to drop some weight. Big surprise, neither diet includes awesome chicken parmesan or fresh home-made cookies. We sometimes cheat but end up feeling guilty and have stopped making progress in our weight loss. We’ve given up a lot in an effort to look and feel a little better and have gotten a lot of frustration in return. At this point, we are just hoping to make it through the holidays without losing ground. Well, we were until I found your site. The idea that we could be having our favorites and using them to lose weight has really excited both of us. We are eager to find out how to make these part of our diet and be able to enjoy eating again. Thanks.

Joel,
Why do I NEED to succeed? It all boils down to feeling great about myself, what I can accomplish and becoming the best I can possibly be. I was an athlete all through high school and college. I succeeded beyond most peoples expectations without a lot of effort. As life progressed, I didn’t keep up with my potential and that has left me somewhat empty. At 57, I have just finished 2 years of rehab for hip and knee replacements. Through that effort I have lost 20 pounds and am feeling better than I have in a long time but have a good 25 pounds left to go and serious conditioning to do. Dara Torres has inspired me that it is never too late to be the best I can be so I am going to get into the best physical, mental and emotional condition of my life starting right now. Your plan is among the first steps I am taking. With my efforts and progress, I hope to inspire others in my family to succeed in regaining their health. Thanks for the support!
Steve

Hi Joel. I hope you are having a lovely day. I sure am.

About a year ago I set a goal to finally drop the weight I gained in college and graduate school and step out on stage at a bodybuilding competition. I read everything I could get my hands on about nutrition (including my mother’s nutrition textbook from nursing school) and training, found a trainer, consulted the nutritionist there, and set out on my journey. From my research and from accounts of others, I learned that strict calorie restriction and deprivation is not the way to go. I instead worked out a nutrition plan that had me eating clean all week and having a cheat day every Saturday. This worked wonders for me over the course of several months, though the final weeks were difficult. My calories got too low with too much cardio, and my trainer had me remove the cheat day. My results slowed, and I didn’t come in quite as lean as I would have liked, but it was a great experience and a good place to start.

From what I’ve learned from your updates and some outside research of my own on leptin, the science behind what I’ve read and learned makes sense. I plan to employ your system over the holidays to continue to fine tune my knowledge and my body, so that next summer I can use all that I’ve learned to lean out for competition while staying strong and healthy.

I have looked at and tried many different diets. None of them worked! I would love to lose about 30 lbs and not have to struggle daily with the feeling of deprivation. I am also struggling with elevated cholesterol levels. I believe your approach is the soundest and I would love to try it out. What I have been reading this past week about your program makes me think that I truly will be able to drop the 30 lbs and feel better about myself.

Hi Joel,
This program couldn’t have come along at a better time. I am a 38 yr old single mom and I have been struggling with my weight for the past ten years. To tell the truth I have gained an average of 10lbs per year for the past ten years. Up until about four weeks ago nothing I had tried would work to help me lose this weight. I have spent the last two years reading, researching, trying to grasp what I have been doing wrong. The information keeps contradicting itself. So finally, I said “okay, I will starve myself”, but I knew that would ruin my metabolism. Well, guess what, I started doing something very similar to your program and I have lost 14lbs!!! Now, because I have so much weight to lose, I believe your program is just what I need to stay on track and make sure I am doing things right. I firmly believe it is fate and I am destined to get fit once again for me and for my children.

I am concerned about my Father’s health, as he is quite overweight. I would like to give the program a try for a couple of months and verify it’s validity and then determine whether I should purchase it for my Dad for a New Year’s Resolution. He’s in his 60’s and though he’s “healthy” according to the doctor, he’s starting have minor problems and I believe it will be a slippery slope if I can’t help him take charge of his over-eating. My Mom and I are at our wits end with trying to help and educate him, but we love him very much. Thank you for your consideration.

I started my ” new life ” at the end of August and I lost 30 lbs in five weeks, but it seems that I’m now stucked to that point, no further progress. So I’ll need extra help to reach my goal, which is to loose at least 15 lbs more. I’m also waiting terrified the holiday season, because in previous years I’ve allways gained weight quite a lot. So if this is solution to me I would be SO gratefull.
Thanks in advance.

Joel,
Let me begin by saying the 6 updates you have provided are very interesting. There’s lots of insight into why I haven’t been able to reach my target weight loss goals and maintain the improvements made. A year and a half ago I went to a personal trainer for 36 visits to try and get myself into a shape better than an apple! I did see results and was glad I made the commitment to make a change. Unfortunately I didn’t make as much of an effort with my eating habits. So not only did I limit my gains during that period by not eating properly, I was not able to sustain the weight loss or maintain the gains I did make. Needless to say, the details you have given in the 6 updates give a peek into the perfect program that will prepare me for a better future. By establishing scientifically supported eating habits and harnessing the natural instincts of the human body, I would not be as likely to make the same mistakes in the future.
The best part and the hardest part to believe, is I can eat most of the same foods in my current diet. I just need to eat more strategically in order to prime my body for fat loss. Again, this program is one of those that seem too good to be true and I welcome the chance to be another success story from the perfect program for fat loss.
Rich

Hi, I am a 49 year old woman that has been chubby since birth. I lived in an abusive relationship so I never had the chance to learn proper eating habits except what came from a can. As probably all your readers I have tried any and every diet, scheme, hope for weight loss you can imagine. As you say diets don’t work and I don’t want to have stomach bypass. I need to be able to achieve this on my own once and for all. After listening to your webcast I thought Ok finally I may be able to achieve this without eating special boxed food or counting everything that goes in my mouth. I joined an aerobic kickboxing class although everybody is 15 and under I know I can stick with it and when my weight starts coming off, I will feel like a 25 year old chick. This is my last hope and I am very excited at the possibility of winning a free copy.

I’m 45 and am overweight (I used to be obese). I’ve tried everything—literally. At the beginning of the year I weighed 215 lbs. and had it with low self esteem and feeling that life was passing me by. I reached the last straw one morning when I called in sick because nothing in my closet fit me. It was my lowest point. My size 18s did not fit—and I didn’t have anything that I could wear to work. After crying, I went to the store and bought some size 20s. And that was my turning point.
Throughout this year, I lost 40 pounds. I ran a half marathon, and next year plan to run 12 half marathons. Exercise alone is not going to take the weight off. I need to learn how to nourish my body without being on a diet. I have been at a plateau for the last 3 months. I still have 35 pounds to take off to reach my goal.
From what I’ve learned, the Cheat your way thin through the holidays will help me not only NOT to gain weight over the holiday—but may in fact help me to lose weight—welcoming in 2010 lighter and healthier. If I received this program for free, I would be the next success story for this program; as I would follow it 100%. Not only would I use the program—my whole family is willing to support me and follow it.

Hi Joel
Have read your statements and they make sense, these are not for me as I am not obese or fat but have passed it on to freinds that are and they are trying the things you have suggested, hope it works for them.
I like the think you talk about for daily exercise.

Hi,

The blog posts that Joel have been posting all this while are very interesting and I am eager to find out and learn more. I have been reading and following because I know there is a logic behind this theory: Cheat Your Way Thin.

When I first went online and came across all these different sites of fat loss and building muscles, I was VERY doubtful about their claim: fat loss GUARANTEED. But that time I was desperate, frustrated that I can’t do anything about the fact that I need to lose the fat off my belly. So I gave one of the programs a try. With determination, I followed the changes in my diet and exercise routine. Being able to see some results, I kept searching online to learn more with questions like why is the diet working? Why is my body responding these ways etc. And with recommendations from a few fitness authors, I stumbled across Joel Marion’s Cheat Your Way Thin. I have been reading the blog posts since the first day I found this site, and day to day I gained more knowledge about how diet strategies can change the way your body behaves and responds. I have been experimenting with my diet composition, strategy, as well as exercise program inspired by different programs from different authors. AND THEY ARE WORKING. With no exception, I want to give Joel Marion’s Cheat Your Way Thin a try and see the results for myself because I know that Cheat Your Way Thin will work (from the logic that Joel has been discussing and explaining). It sounds too true to me (with all my heart, not for the sake of saying it). Holiday season is just around the corner. And I know I love food, so I know I need some strategies to prevent me from going off the track. In addition to that, I believe the knowledge that I get from this book is going to be life-changing and keep me motivated to reach my ultimate goal: having a lean body and hopefully be able to become a fitness model. Thank you!

I am male in my 40’s that has always struggled with my weight and appetite control. It seems that I am always hungry and could never eat enough to satisfy me unless I had several serving of food. This was okay when I was young and very active, but now age has caught up with me. I am 50 pounds overweight and have a hard time losing weight using traditional diets including low carb.

I have recently learned about the powerful effect that leptin has on our bodies including appetite control. I have started to implement principals that will better normalize my leptin levels and the early results are excellent. I am no longer hungry all the time and have more energy. This has allowed me to restart my kettlebell routine, which I stopped due to lack of energy. However I need a long term eating plan that will keep my leptin levels normal and allow me feel that I can eat some “forbidden foods” at times. I look forward to implementing the principals in the “Cheat Your Way Thin Holiday Addition” to super charge my weight loss during the holiday season. I believe that this boost will give me the confidence and early results to stick with a program long term to lose all the weight I need to lose and to maintain the proper weight over the long term.

I need something that I can follow for the rest of my life, in order to stay healthy, fit, and to keep the fat off.

I work some weird hours at the airport and am surrounded by all the Christmas and holiday treats that the local vendors are starting to sell. After a long day of dealing with cranky travellers it’s all-too-easy to just grab one of quick treats to tide me over on the hour drive home at 9:00 pm. Cheating my way thin would be an invaluable gift to my health, heart and self-esteem!

I simply want to eat what I want and get away with very little exercise. I finally realized this after starting yet another weight loss program. I continue to tell myself I want to drop the 25 pounds but then I will go to Paradise bakery for a breakfast sandwich and walk out with 2 cookies plus a few of the free ones. Or i will stop by starbucks and get a caramel frap with extra caramel and a chocolate brownie. I need help and by having a simple program to follow without having to give up the things I love totally, is what I need. I need energy, I need the shortcuts, I need to learn how to trick my leptin. I need to cheat my way thin.

unfortunately, the only times i have ever managed to find my happy weight (around 135 lbs at 5 ft 8) were during times of incredible personal stress. i was there a year ago, having stayed there for about 3 years. let me tell you, the “anxiety diet” is very effective but, emotionally, not so fun. now, my life is relatively low stress, but i drive to and from work and sit at a desk for 8 hours every day. so now, i have 20 lbs of extra padding to show for my peace and harmony! daily yoga is great but it doesnt beat the weight off because as a single mom, time is limited and the choice is either more sleep or more exercise. i am not a big eater but i have battled extra belly, hip and thigh fat since i was a teenager. please tell me how to get lean and finally do it right!

I love the idea of cheating to help in my weight loss efforts! I always considered myself lucky to be able to eat what I wanted and still stay thin because I was so active. However, a few years ago an injury put an end to that active lifestyle and led to a new version of me…30 pounds heavier. Since then I have gotten back to the gym and the activities I love but have only managed to take off a few of those new-found pounds.

I, like many others, have tried EVERY diet out there and though I got temporary result from some of them, I’ve yet to be able to stick with one long term. The same thing happens every time, I give in to the temptations of my favorite foods- that mint chip ice cream has hypnotic powers over me ;o). I would have never thought that my “cheating” could HELP me with my weight loss if only I cheated in the right way! The science makes sense and I believe this may be the only diet that I can deal with long term. I can’t wait to start Cheating my way thin this holiday season!

I’m carrying an extra 50 lbs and have done so for years. It’s only recently that I’ve seriously considered losing the weight. I know from experience that I can lose inches while still maintaining weight and I know that unless I’m ready to lose the weight, it’s not going anywhere so I’ve never really tried a bunch of different diets. Dieting isn’t going to work if I’m not ready to change.
About two months ago, I decided that I want to be healthy and I want to hike Machu Pichu in the spring. For me being healthy means that I can hike most of the day without having to stop and catch my breath or take a break because I can’t go any further or be stiff and sore the next day. As a result, I’ve modified my eating habits and started exercising with the goal of getting healthy not a goal of losing weight.
When it comes to diet, I truly believe that denying myself something only makes me want it more. So if I want chocolate, I have a piece. If I want ice cream I have a very small bowl. With that mentality it only makes sense that the “Cheat Your Way Thin” program is one that could work for me. It’s not about denying myself the things I like to eat, it’s about learning to manage how I eat those things. I’m looking forward to reading and following the plan. Thanks!

Hi Joel – I’ve loved reading your updates over the past week because what you’re saying, and the science behind it, makes so much more sense than other programs out there. Looking back, the times I’ve been the healthiest were when I had a balanced attitude toward food, seeing it as fuel the majority of the time but also enjoying the occasional “cheat.” Over time, like so many people, I let my portions grow and the cheat meals outnumber the healthy, and I ended up about 15-20 pounds heavier than is comfortable for me or ideal for my health.

Eighteen months ago, I shed the body-fat and got to the lean, toned body I wanted. It involved long days at the gym, detox diets, guilt and lots of deprivation. I felt amazing that summer in my bikini! But slowly the weight crept back on because the lifestyle wasn’t sustainable for me. I have no problem going to the gym six days a week and doing the work. But I love food too much to subsist on carrot sticks and poached chicken breasts. I’m a great cook, I love to entertain and I love a glass of wine with my friends. While I would also love to reach my peak fitness potential, I want to enjoy my life. If I win one of the free programs, I know that I will work hard when I need to, be the best “cheater” you’ve ever had and get that amazing body back, guilt-free!

I can only base my thoughts and oppinion on what I have read on Joel’s web site. As I get older, 64, it has become more and more difficult to maintain a good, healthy weight. My intensions are good, but then comes the party or the pizza and I give in to my intense liking of food and drink. Joel’s method seems designed for the every day folks, like me, who are not the extreme diet and workout enthusiests that it seems to take for success. We desperately need a program that is workable on an every day level and will provide results to keep us healthier as we age. If Joel’s program is half of what he says it is, this could be the answer for many of us. If it is, I certainly will let everyone I know about it.

Hi Joel,

I am a 50 year old woman, who after quitting smoking six years ago, and going through menopause have had a hard time taking off that extra 10 pounds. I know it does not sound like alot, and after being a vegan, vegetarian for over 10 years, a personal trainer, and very fitness consious, and have denied myself of many foods and still cannot take off the 10 pounds. I come from a family of large people and although I am the smallest, I still struggle. I have enjoyed your videos and the theory and can’t wait to try your program.

Hi Joel. I am a 43 year old mother of 2 boys. I enjoy exercise and readily read about physical fitness and nutrition. I try to educate myself, for my health, and so that I can set an example for my boys. I continue to learn exercise and nutrition principles from well known experts, but feel that there are still some pieces of the puzzle, my puzzle, that are missing. I tend to apply what I learn for a period of time, 2 years even. Then I get tired of the strict nature, and yo-yo a bit. I need a life system that will work. I need to learn how to eat strategically. I believe that your program will help me gain the knowledge that I need, so that I can make the best possible plan of action. I will be able to set an example and still be able to live healthily, without the obsession, stress, and worry over food and weight.
