I was intrigued when I received a link to your information from another trainer. I had read studies on leptin before and that was a real link to me to pay attention to this program. Although I would only like to drop around 25 pounds, it has stubbornly stayed on since I had a baby. Before having a child I never really struggled with weight loss and now I have tried several different programs, but really want something that I can stick with forever. This plan really seems like that can be done – providing a means to still be able to go out and enjoy yourself sometimes – plus the psychological effects of a cheat day would obviously be a huge bonus as well. I really look forward to trying this program.
I’m going to make this post extremely quick and easy.

I need this, first, because I want to lose 30 pounds, and the idea of having cheat days strikes a cord. I lost 35 pounds 2 years ago and have gained 10 pounds back. I did the Kimkins version of low carb which was extremely restrictive. I have been trying to get to my goal for a year. I need a plan that outlines everything for me, I am an organized person, I have 6 children, so I need to be! I try to eat 3 small meals a day and I get so hungry and still don’t lose. I want to be a hot, fit mama at 40 years of age. I love all your tips.
I am recovering from prostate cancer surgery and am trying to lose weight. I am at the border of being obese. This goes against the prostate cancer I am told. At my age it seems to be almost impossible for me to lose weight. The only way I have been able to lose weight is to lower my calories. At this point I have lowered my calories all it is safe to lower them, and I am not losing much weight. I desperately need to get this weight off. I’m hoping that your method will help me to jumpstart my metabolism and get this weight off and keep it off. I have been successful many times before but I cannot seem to include any of my favorite foods and keep the weight off. I have been following you for awhile and believe that you may be on to something.
Why your Cheat-Your-Way-Thin program would be perfect for me:
Six months ago I started working out – slowly building a routine … + everything has worked out so far.
However, I’m still struggling with my eating habits: I know the basics + I’ve looked at a few diet books – BUT that’s just not what I want! I want to live a healthy life but I don’t want to force myself into dieting + deny myself a little pleasure once in a while.
I need a solution that helps me leading a healthy lifestyle + allows me to indulge in my food cravings every now and then – because I need some guidelines that I can stick to for the rest of my life, not just until I’ve lost a few pounds. (BTW: I’m 25 years old now – so there is still a lot ‘rest’ of my life)
For the last couple of months I spent my sunday afternoons planning my nutrition for the upcoming week: choosing meals with the right combination of protein, carbohydrates and fat, looking up recipes, putting together the grocery list
BUT every time I wonder whether I’m making the right choices … or am I pushing my metabolism actually into the WRONG direction?
I need some clear rules (telling me exactly what + when to eat).
I‘m ready now to take actions on behalf of my health (I just finished university – so the past months were draining and chaotic). Now real life starts for me – and I want to be prepared for anything. I need to be at the top of my game!
Thanks for reading this.
Regards, Kate
I am 48 years old and have been having a hard time for the past 5 years losing a stubborn ten to fifteen pounds. I actually like working out and do a variety of types of exercise including kettlebells, other weight training, steady state and interval cardio but really don’t want to spend more than an hour a day exercising. My workouts have taken over my life and my other hobbies and even my family have taken a back seat. Pretty lame if you ask me. What seems to be missing from my weight loss equation is the nutrition aspect of it (sorry diet is a four letter word and I try not to use it!) Compared to the average American I eat very well-minimal processed foods, loads of fruit and vegetables and lean proteing however, my sweet tooth is my downfall.
A program that allows me to indulge in sweets regularly would be ideal for me but frankly I’m skeptical-so prove me wrong by letting me try this program for free!
Hi Joel, I am not a college student or an exceptionally smart person and I can safely tell you that I have tried every single diet out there, the grapefruit diet, South Beach, Atkins, cabbage diet, the soup diet, the low fat, the low carb, you name it and I’ve tried it. Ii have lost weight and gained weight and lost and gained enought weight to make about three more small people! In following your daily updates it seems to me like you’ve got this weight loss thing all figured out and I would love to try your plan. I need to lose only about 40 pounds and I know that what I need is a lifestyle change. As I go through menopause, my body is tired. I hope you can help me. Thanks for this opportunity!
hi Joel. Please sign me up for the Cheat Your Way Thin Holiday Edition contest. I am a 42 year old mom of two little boys. I work full time and have a 2 1/2 hr commute everyday. With trying to take care of my family and work, there is little time left for me. I am trying and have tried everything to lose this baby fat and it just seems to keep hanging on. I’ve read your articles and I like what you have to say, I think your program would work for me. Thanks
Joel,
I am a 25 year old mom of three girls ages four, three and one. I have gained weight with each pregnancy and haven’t been able to lose it all. This program would be perfect for me because I have a sweet tooth and I would be able to eat sweets and still loose weigh. I need access to this program so I can become a healthy weight, be physically fit and have more energy to play with my girls. Thank you, Lori
I’ve been dieting since around the age of 8. My mom needed a weight loss buddy, and I was the heavy one. I’ve tried every weight loss system out there. I lost a few, but nothing seemed to last. Reading Joel’s take on the weight loss game makes more sense than “dieting”. I’m stubborn by nature, and don’t give up easily, but I just can’t seem to stick with a “diet” for very long. I try for a few months, and get very little in return. So I give up. I guess what I’m looking for is a “way of life” as opposed to a “diet”. I’ve looked into other “lifestyle change” diets, but they seem too restrictive. Joel’s approach really struck a cord with me. Even if I don’t win a program, what I’ve learned so far from his coaching emails has inspired me to get back in the weight loss game.
I have been on many diets in my life and even the most successful of them doesn’t work all that well. I still struggle to follow the guidelines and regularly fall off the wagon, with all the attendant guilt and sense of failure. And I still can’t control my weight.
Your updates explain a good reason for this so called failure and a solution to it that sounds doable and liveable and promises control that works.
I have noticed many times when I have been following diet guidelines that I just want to eat and eat and eat. The next day I feel stuffed and tired. I have also noticed times when I have a glorious pigout and feel so satisfied I don’t want to eat any more. The next day I find I have suffered no ill effects, in fact I feel fine, energetic and motivated. These “anomalies” have made no sense until now.
I am tired of struggling with diets that don’t work as they say they should. I’m tired of feeling like it’s my fault. I want a strategy that works, and I’m ready for it now.
I want to feel I’m working with my body’s genius systems, not fighting against them.
I’d never heard of Leptin before I read your emails and your updates. It sounds like it’s the missing piece of the puzzle. Bring it on!
As you can tell from my email address I am a baker! My professional career is as a personal trainer. I try hard to constantly study all aspects of training to give my clients the best information that I can and to find ways that they will be successful. Learning this will help me teach them. It will also help me balance my life. I was a body builder in my 20’s and eating clean to me is oatmeal and tuna for breakfast, etc. I learned old-school from Haney and Arnold. I’d love to be able to balance my love of baking and fitness so that I can enjoy both without guilt or concern of ruining my hard work. Thank you.
Hello Joel, I’ll be joining a contest (fitness modelling) next year here in our country and I’m on my cutting phase now. I think your program could help me more to achieve my goal (155 lbs – 6 % body fat). On my first few days on my fat loss phase, I noticed that it’s also stripping my muscle as well. So when I read your article, i tried the one-day cheat day. Then I felt that my muscles are retaining and at the same time, I’m losing some fats. Not only that, I now have the extra motivation to stick to my diet program knowing the cheat day is not so far. I think this would make the ‘dieting’ much fun than the others.
Hi Joel,
This is THE first program I have been really excited about in a long time. I feel it addresses one of my most common and recurring problems: caving in to those cravings! I do good for so long and then bam… gotta have those carbs. This program makes the most sense of anything I have heard. I think that just mentally knowing I can have that cheat day will keep me on track. I love and appreciate your info and updates and can’t wait to see more. I need to lose about 35 pounds of fat and I feel confident you are the man to help me. Thanks! Cindy
The information I have been receiving in these e-mail newletters is extremely helpful. My father passed away when he was 57, due to being obese. I have been obese/overweight all of my life, and now I am a widow with a young child, and I need to be able to live a long, healthy life for her. My fitness goals are:
(1) I need to lose 35 lbs. in body fat, and
(2) I want to get my body toned (in my wildest dreams, “ripped”) and in the best shape it can be.
I used to weigh 274 lbs.. I am now down to 180 lbs., but need to lose more fat/build more muscle. I live a full life in the country–intensive yard/garden work, stacking/carrying firewood, etc., and being “in training” simply makes my life in general healthier and easier. Since I have a stubbornly slow metabolism, I have always found physical fitness to be especially non-attainable. But I am in the middle of changing that with your help, Joel! Thanks for all the pointers you’ve shared with me so far, and I would GREATLY appreciate and USE the Cheat Your Way Thin system, the INSTANT I can get access to it!
HEY JOEL – HOOK ME UP (please and thank you :o)…I am a 41 year old, single female who for almost 8 years has been struggling with “getting the last few pounds off”. Everyone has there story, I’m sure everyone needs a little help so I am simply asking and hoping something in my words will grab your attention. I started MY journey with BFL back in the day (so I know all about you from way back then) and have followed that basic premise because it worked for me, slightly modifying as the years passed and my body changed. But now I am stuck. Really stuck. It’s been 2 years and although I am maintaining my weight, I KNOW there is a little bit further to go. And NOW I am bombarded with tons of info that makes TOTAL sense and I just don’t know where to turn. It is time for a change and I really believe your little plan might be just what I need to get my journey kickstarted again and FINALLY reach that goal. The drive is there, the passion is there…just need a fresh spark tossed on the fire to really kick things up again. My birthday is 1/23 so my goal is to march right through the holidays without hiding from all the temptations and welcome my 41st birthday with my BIGGEST SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT EVER. Hitting my goal weight that I set for myself 8 years ago. Thanks Joel and Happy almost Holidays my friend!
Hi Joel
I am a 48 year old woman that have been struggeling with weight issues from the age of 8. My Mother has put me on diets galor to no avail. As an adult I have carried on trying to get into shape. I am very health orientated. Please help me with your book.My enery levels are depleated and my oemph as well.I am getting severly depressed because of the extra body fat that I am carring.
Much oblige,Marina
I don’t get to cheat. Especially on the things I work hard for: as a law student, I would get expelled. As a girlfriend, I would get dumped. As an athlete, I would lose my competitive edge. So to hear that I could cheat on my diet and get the results that I want sounds entirely too good to be true. This is especially true now that the holidays are starting to derail my eating discipline.
So I’m a little skeptical. I have never gotten results without being super strict with my diet regimen. I am actually in quite good shape: but I want to be in amazing shape. I don’t make namby-pamby New Year’s resolutions that I forget in 2 months. I am where I am because of resolutions I made years ago. But my ideal was, up until recently, 5-6 pounds lighter and I see some backsliding imminent with the approach of the holidays.
Help me help you. Put your e-book in my e-hands and I’ll put it to the test. I’ll immediately put it into action and if it gets results, everyone will hear about it: I’ll send you photos, testimonials, and tell all my friends and family – because honestly, who doesn’t want to hear about a realistic diet plan that (finally) gets them the results that they want and need?
Joel-I need this program because I had thyroid cancer several years ago and I have a very difficult time losing weight. I need something new to try. I get really bored with dieting and very discouraged if I see no results.
I really want to get healthier and have a better body image.
Hello Joel,
I have enjoyed receiving and reading your updates. I totally believe that your program works. About 7 years ago, I joined Weight Watchers. I was 148 pounds and my friend was joining, so I thought, “What the heck, it might work.” Well, I followed the program to a “T” during the first few weeks. Then, I started to ‘slip up’ a little on the weekends and like you, I was scared to step on the scale come Monday. BUT I ended up LOSING more weight on my ‘slip up’ weekends than I did during the week on the “diet”!! I couldn’t believe it and didn’t know how it was possible. Well, I ended up losing 20 pounds and at 125, I felt GREAT!
Then, my first son arrived. I gained about 5 pounds after I had him and decided that I would be okay with it. Three years later, my second son arrived and I gained 5 MORE pounds. I have been trying to lose it and would start journaling and calculating points here and there for about a day or two. I realized it was just too hard to sit there and plan out my meals and calculate points with two hyper little boys biding for my time. We eat out a lot and then, like you, I feel the guilt about what I eat!
This rollercoaster all came to a head when on Halloween of this year, my six-year-old said I looked pregnant. I decided that THAT is IT! I need to do something, anything! I have been trying the points again with Weight Watchers and it seems to be going to very slow. I never really had a big tummy and I work out about 2-3 times a week and do abs, but I don’t think they will get any better with these extra pounds that I am carrying.
I think your program is exactly what I need. In addition to working out, I hope your program helps me lose the 20-25 pounds I would like to shed. I hope I win and I can be one of your ‘before’ and ‘after’ people :)
Thanks,
Christina
Joel, This is so awsome! I thank God for you! I just started your program last week, and am SO excited about it. I have been praying for this kind of workout/diet plan and believe I (or rather You) have found the answer I’ve been needing to lose fat and get back into shape. I love the daily updates and inspirations from you, because I workout on my own at home and need those incentives to keep going. And the details on the way to eat are so do-able. I would love to get your Cheat Your Way Thin Holiday Edition because I’m the type of person who needs it all laid out in front of me to understand it and do it right, and be told what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. I am actually looking forward to the holidays and parties, knowing I will be able to enjoy them and not gain weight. You have really built up my confidence in myself, AND I’m having FUN! Thanks for all you’ve done to put this together and put it out there for others. God bless!
Hi Joel,
I am so interested and intrigued by your lifestyle diet, that your log has been the first thing I’ve looked for on my emails this past week. It is so informative and exciting to know that you can help with my battle at the min! I am a 26yr old mother of 2 young boys (aged 4 & 1) and I am really struggling this time round to lose the weight after having my youngest child.
I love to exercise, but at the moment I am quite lethargic~ but I know using your lifestyle system that I can overcome this & gain the body back I used to have long ago!
I am loving the facts on leptin levels and the cheat day once a week cant be a bad thing which will obviously help make things easier!
I would so so love to give your lifestyle diet a go, and not just for me but also my partner, and then it can help our family understand the value of healthy eating and exercise at the same time!
Keep up the good work Joel, you truly are an INSPIRATION!! I am now in that zone to give my body the cleansing and workouts that it so desperately needs!
Thanks again for sharing all the info x
Hi Joel,
To be honest I have no idea if your program works or not. There are hundreds of weight loss programs out there and I’ve even purchased a few. Some of them work and some of them really don’t!
My story is very similar to everyone elses. I’m overweight and need to lose a bit of weight. I really would love to see myself wearing the clothes i used to wear and looking great again. I am not going into more sob stories here because I see I am not alone…. :)
Here’s the thing….I don’t know if your plan will work. I’m interested, of course! Any program that has “cheat” in it – is my kind of plan. And i’m really hopeful. But I’ve been here before as well…when embarking on a new program.
If your plan actually works – there are SO MANY people in my life that I could help. I see their faces and know how they feel. I could really help them and bring a small nugget of happiness to their lives. I am going to try your program Joel, for the off chance that it actually works!
Thanks!

The main reason that I need this is because I am fighting a weight problem – I am borderline diabetic. So far I have lost inches – waist 5 inches, hips 2 inches. I workout 3 times a week – 30 min. on the bicycle, weight training 45 min. and then I walk. Although I have lost inches my weight remains the same – 168lbs. I am 5’8″.
Let me give you a bit of history: I have been reading and practicing different exercise and diet protocols for years. Yours makes a lot of sense. I have really enjoyed your emails for the last few days and I plan to put them to use, especially with the holiday season upon us. This is more than about me actually. This is about my girlfriend. She has had problems with her weight her whole life. She gets upset (as do I) when she falls off the wagon. With this philosophy, she’ll be able to look forward to eating the foods that she loves minus the guilt. Her health is more important than anything and I know that your diet can help her lose the pounds she wants to lose and enjoy her food and life more.
