Dear Joel,

I have an 18 inch steel rod in my back and I have had trouble keeping weight off and losing weight ever since my operation in 1977. I would sincerely like to try your course as it sounds like a great plan for me. I have many friends I would like to share it with, Please consider me for one of your books as I am already inspired by your information that I have read so far. Thank you for a new approach.

Marcia

I need this. My wedding is in less than 6 months and I need motivation to do the right thing. I have a trainer, but my diet is so terrible. I either starve myself or I eat like a king. There is no in between. Please pick me!! I want to be in the best possible shape for my wedding, honeymoon, and all those days to follow.

Two years ago I was approaching liver failure.
After I got the wake-up call, I changed my diet and work-outs regimen.
Before this, I ate what I wanted and did no exercise!
Now I am about 7% over-weight, and quite fit.
However, that last 7% just will not go away (which is frustrating me)!
I LOVE eating, and, more importantly, feeling full.
I want to understand what my body is doing, why, and when, so that I can figure out what I can eat and how much, and balance this against what execise I am doing.
Life is good, but I want it to be better.

Hi Joel,I am 5 feet tall and weigh about 227.I have tried many diets in the past to no avail.I have arthritis in my knees and hip,so i am limited in what kind of exercises to do.I haven’t found the right ones for that either.Diets are frustrating.I have tried everything it seems.I ahve 2 beautiful active grandchildren agers 5 and 8 who do gymnastics.I would love to be able to keep up with them.I need to lose weight for me also.Heart problems, dementia, alzheimers and diabetes run in my family.I have been lucky so far.Need any help I can get. Thank you.

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and have recently developed terrible leg pains. My specialist says the leg pains are nerve related and the only way I can get rid of them is to lose weight. I’m already unable to walk very far and I would love to avoid a wheel chair. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Thank you.

Joel,
I’m a 25 year old mom to three girls ages four, three and one. I’ve packed on a few pounds with each pregnancy and was never able to loose all of it after. This program would be perfect because i have a sweet tooth and i would be able to loose weight and still have sweets once in a while. I need access this this program so i can be a heathy weight, be physically fit and have more energy to play with my girls.
Thank You,
Lori

Joel,
I have many reasons why I WANT to do this. But now that I’m 31, I realize that if I don’t change them to MUSTs, then nothing will change. The reasons I MUST do this is for my health, and the security for my fiancee.

She suffers from hypothyroid, and PCOS, and due to her high insulin resistance from her mom, if she doesn’t lose the weight she will become insulin dependent in less than 3 years.

I have a family history of heart disease, alcoholism, obesity, high blood pressure, and type II diabetes. Of those I only suffer from obesity thankfully. But that still isn’t good enough. Back in 2006 I weighed 285 lbs, and diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. We explored surgical options, even BiPAP machine. It didn’t help. The only real solution was to lose the weight

I MUST lose the fat and become stronger so that I can run around with the kids we plan to have, so I can run for more than 1/4 mile w/o getting winded. I MUST do this so that I don’t inherit the health problems my family history says I will be doomed to have if I don’t change.

I want to be better for myself, my family, and my future wife. I want to live to be 90 and literally grow old with her. It is for these reasons and other more vain ones that I want a jump start with cheat your way thin.

i’m 40 now and have 1 child age 5. i also work every sat & sun till late.
since having my son 5 years ago my body shape changed drasticly, now no matter what diet & exersize regime i try i don’t lose weight, infact im just putting on more every day it seems.i want to see my son grow up,but im frightened i may not if i dont lose the weight.
having read your e-mails im doing what you suggest, and i have a cheat day at the weekend which works in great as i work late,i just need more structure for through the week and how best to use the other tips you have given to their optinum for both eating & exersize and this could be the breakthrough for me-as the book would tell me this and i would then be on my path to burning fat and being healthy for life.

I have been on a couple of diets, some have worked others not at all. The problem is once I know yI am on a diet, I crave things that under any normal circumstance I would not have interest in them. Once I fall off the wagon, I never go back, therefore gain more weight than what I had lost. My closet has two sets of sizes. It depresses me. I feel I am failing on something I shoulkd have control of.

I too try and stay up with the latest research on nutrition and quite frankly it’s tough with so many different diets and professional opinions out there to find a trusted and reliable guide. I like the fact that you’ve done the research and experimented on yourself and others–real people, not models. So yeah I would love to give your ideas a shot especially since almost every diet out there is so restrictive. Your consideration is appreciated.

The years of yo-yo dieting have to stop. I know they have taken a toll on my body. I need to embrace a lifetime plan that will help me meet my goals. I feel your plan would help me stratagize my eating plan to get the most out of burning fat and toning. Thank You for your offer.

Joel,

What catches my attention the most about your program is that it actually SOUNDS HEALTHY! I never thought that low carb sounded all that healthy. It can be tough counting calories or points or whatever. Plus, I know how easy it is to “starve” yourself doing the low calorie thing. I tried the “eat every 3 hours” diet for a while because nothing was restricted except portion size, and it worked for a little while. Then, I was hungry ALL THE TIME, even though I knew I was physically eating what seemed like ALL THE TIME! Talk about confusing and frustrating. I thought to myself that there was no way I was starving myself, so how can my body be acting like it is starving? The messages you’ve shared for free so far have shown me why, but not yet shown me how to prevent it.

Every diet that is available right now (that I know of) will likely show results, until the body adjusts to the new routine, and then you “plateau”. That’s when people either quit, or go a little more extreme and find a new plateau. Your diet appears to actually be constantly changing enough that it is doubtful the body will reach that plateau stage before the individual is ready. This is a major breakthrough, and why I am most interested in putting your program to the test.

Everyone deserves a chance to be taught the truth about their body and the nutrition it needs. Also, wouldn’t that be great to know how and why the body acts a certain way when you combine carbs a certain way? Although you deserve every penny you profit from selling this (I hope you have a patent!), I can’t wait until this type of information is taught in the public school system for all of our future generations to know and understand. This is not about me, this is about our nation, its people, and the lies/misinformation that we’ve been fed for decades.

On the eve of Tues Oct 27th, at about 10:30PM I suffered two “seizures” – loss of motor control, blacking out, having tremors, and although I regained consciousness, I lack all memory of paramedics showing up and/or of my being carried out of the house on a gurney, transported via ambulance to the hospital, wheeled into the hospital, spending hours in emergency, moved to a hospital room, and given a CT scan. I was first conscious about mid-morning the next day and spent about another 12 hours in the hospital with my husband Greg by my side.

Because I was stressed out, my blood pressure was high and the intravenous drips kept leaking blood into my arms, which are now spotted with big bruises.

Thankfully, the CT scan of my head showed no tumors, lesions or bleeding in the brain, but results of an EEG showed an area of periodically excited brain wave activity in the anterior region of the right temporal lobe.

They asked me if I’d ever had spinal meningitis, and the answer is yes – when I was a teenager.

Upon returning home, I promptly did research over the Internet, and found several videos online about people who have controlled their seizures or their young children’s seizures through a so-called “ketogenic diet” – high fat and protein with minimal carbs and no simple sugars or refined flour (low glycemic)! And where do you suppose I had recently learned about this exact same kind of diet? From Joel Marion.

This episode has finally supplied me with the WILL POWER to stay on that diet, exercise, and lose weight… and more importantly, it will probably prevent further seizures (so far, so good – no more seizures since Oct 27th!) and it may even save my life… a life that will feel SO much better when I am looking good and feeling better about myself.

Wow! For the first time in my life, I think this is a lifestyle change that I can stick to. I am 47 and was thin until the day I turned 40. I have been dieting since that day with out success. It seems that I have no willpower for extreme diets. So, planned cheats would be a blessing! I would love to lose 30 lbs. My goal is to be back in a bikini by my birthday in March. With your program, I really believe I can do it!

Hi Joel;
Thank you for the emails. As a retired Health care worker the information you have provided makes sense to me. I am considered to be severely obese by today’s standards. As a mother of three and grandmother of one, i really want to be around to enjoy my grandchild and any others that I may be blessed with. I have tried just about every “diet” in the book and for a few years i had actually taken off over 60 lbs and had kept it off until health issues forced me to the doctors who in their “infinite” wisdom put me on a low fat diet which made me gain it all back as at that time i didn’t read labels and realize how much sugar was in those products. Having a mother with type 2 diabetes and a father with high blood pressure also adds to my health concerns if i can not get this extra weight off. I need to lose a minimum of 100 lbs according to today’s standards of where i should be for my height and body frame. please continue your tips as they are helping.

I’ve noticed in my 62 years that there is a lot of hype in the world in diets. Some things in fact seem to make perfect common sense. I have that those things that make perfect sense are the right things to do. Your program makes perfect sense to me and I have noticed that similar results have happened to me. Your explanation puts it all together and I BELIEVE……
The only diet that has ever worked for me is the Atkins diet. I noticed that even with that diet that plateaus happened and I would get discouraged after 2 weeks of a standstill and I would cheat for a couple of days. Getting serious again would then work. I managed to lose 42 lbs but over the years it creaped back up. With age, the Atkins didn’t work like it did.
I fully intend to use your system when it drops.
Thanks for your research.

Unbelieveably to me I have put 2 stone on since suffering a miscarriage in April, even though I am still eating in exactly the same way as I always have. Prior to this I was a slinky size 8 (UK sizes, so a 6 in the US I think!) and simply thought that people who carried too much weight did so because of poor food choices, period! I now know that was very small-minded of me – both because of these pesky things called hormones AND because of what you have taught me about how the diet industry fails all of us. I am sooooooooo keen to lose the 2 stone I’ve put on and think the only way I can do that is to adopt the methods you will outline in your book. I don’t think any ‘guru’ over here in the UK approaches fat loss in the way that you do and I can’t wait to get hold of your book and all the additional stuff that goes with it! I will definitely buy it if I’m not lucky enough to win, but to get it for FREE would be the best early Christmas present ever! Here’s hoping. Best Wishes, Laura

dear joel
the last week I came across with some articles you have sent me about your approaching to fat loss!!
Its really very interesting and it seems to be easy to follow.
I have tried losing weight several times but the results were always the same….
or I was miscouraged and gave up all of my efforts, or afterwards I gained all of them back
Iwant to make a new effort now as I suffer from high blood pressure and my doctor advised me to lose some pounds
thank you for all your wonderful info
kisses
zoi

Hi Joel,

About 5 years ago my mother-in-law started Atkins and had lost about 40 pounds and wanted to give me all of her “fat” clothes. The problems was that her “fat” clothes were actually a size smaller than what I could fit into even at my prepregnancy weight and I had gained a size after my daughter and another after my son. I did manage to lose weight following Atkins… quite a bit actually, but after getting to my goal weight I have found the weight creeping back on and I have regained 20 of the pounds lost in the past 2 years. I just couldn’t go without all carbs (other than in veggies) for the rest of my life and that is why I gain. Your program would allow me to have what I crave and still lose and then maintain my weight. That sounds just perfect. Thank you!

We all have our vices, and mine is sweets. While in college I gained way more weight than just the freshman fifteen, but thankfully I’ve managed to lose most of that these past couple years. I have fitness programs down, it’s my eating lifestyle that I’ve been working on and finding no results anymore. For the past two years I’ve been at a plateau. I really think your program would help me be able to fit my habit for sweets into a healthy lifestyle so that I’d be able to see results again.

This program will be absolutely PERFECT for me at this point in my life! I am a 59 year old overweight post-menopausal female currently on harmone replacement therapy who has thus far been unable to lose weight thru conventional calorie-restrictive dieting.

On top of this, I have ruined my metabolism due to poor eating habits and lack of weight-resistant exercise. As an RN working a stressful 12-hour night shift with no time to sit down and relax while at work, I return home every morning famished. I then eat my ONE large meal for the day and go to bed. Upon awakening 8 hours later, I am too full to fit anything more into my stomach. So I go to work for another 12-hour shift, only do it all over again. I am probably consuming less than 1500 calories daily but not losing any bodyfat because my body is almost constantly in “starvation mode”.

Also working against me is the fact that I am a classic pear-shaped “endomorph” – thus, carbohydrate intolerant with a naturally higher insulin level. I tend to add fat easily!

I understand that a low carb diet is ideal for my body type and the best kind of diet for shedding bodyfat. Coupled with your cyclical plan, which not only aids in metabolism (thus avoiding the plateaus), but also allows one to have their favorite treats every week, how could I not achieve success with your program?!

This is a truly interesting concept in weight management. I’m 37, and have been on one diet or another since I was in the 6th grade. All of my female relatives tend towards heaviness, and I’ve been around 200 pounds since 1997. I’ve tried exercise videos to lose weight, but it always seems to come back. There’s a family history of diabetes, as well as stroke and sleep apnea.

Still, my biggest concern at this point is my daughter. She has a bigger sweet tooth than I do, and seems to have no concern for being healthy. I’m hoping this plan will help her as well as me, and possibly my husband as well (he was much thinner when we got married. I suspect he messed up his metabolism one summer when he had very little money for food, and the large portions we have now is probably not helping either).

Thanks for listening!

Hi I am 66 and did not have a weight problem till around 15 years ago, so all the normal diets such as the cabbage soup diet (ok the first few days but nothing but cabbage soup can get a bit boring) reccomended by the haert foundation, calorie counting, more exersize smaller portions etc all work a bit but my weight sticks at it present level, no matter what I do, even digging out for a pond in the garden this year made no real difference, (despite having an artificial shoulder replacement joint, that restricts movment of that arm) so lets face it I need help to shift those extra pounds, and your information as to WHY normal diets dont work certainly seems to make sence, heart problems run in both my mother and farthers side of the family, and with my brothers and sisters and I also have high blood pressure.
So your system hase got to be worth a try. Thank you

Hi Joel –
I have tried many diets over the years and while many work for a time, I end up gaining it all back, as they are hard to maintain for long periods of time. All that gain back has put me at about 100lbs overweight. I am determined to lose the weight now as I need to get into shape for my family and for me. I am working on the exercise part, but have limited time and I am not losing much weight. I know I am missing the nutrition factor and this program seems to make a lot more sense than other plans and sounds more doable within my lifestyle. I am tired of being the fat dad.

Hi Joel,
Nine years ago, I read Atkins’ “New Diet Revolution” and knew it described me to a tee (I turned out to be one of the resistant ones). I ran with strict induction & lost over 60 lbs. but was ‘afraid’ to go off induction for nearly 2 years. I was thin, had boundless energy (in fact horrid insomnia) & was in control, so I thought. I also destroyed my thyroid… my standard body temp. was 93.5 (which led to circulation/perfusion issues).
I did gain about 25 lbs back and have been trying to loose that safely without further damage to my touchy thyroid. I eat very clean, drink nothing but water or green tea for over 8 years now, use acupuncture to balance my thyroid (no RX). I turn 50 next year and would like to get the fitness level I had 8 years ago to continue competing/training in the things I do. Thanks
