I have been overweight all my life and at the age of 70, I’m trying to get my head around losing weight and developing muscle. I do erobic exercises and I’m fitter but not slimmer. The workouts sound absolutely perfect for me along with the motivation and journaling of my daily intake of food. I will be able to lose weight and improve my health by understanding nutrition better and with eating the correct foods at the correct time.

I’m 52 years old and about 10 months ago made a commitment to myself to get rid of the extra fat around my belly. I started out by walking and then adding some weight training and slowly changed my eating habits to combat the extra fat that I have. In January I started an 8 week HIIT course that I did on the treadmill. I started at a weight of 186 and finished with a weight of 184. Heart and lungs much fitter, but still no change to the body shape.
Reading your articles, I now see that part of my problem has been low testosterone from an extended period of calorie reduction. I am a yoga practitioner and teacher and love practicing hot and power yoga, but yoga doesn’t seem to help me lose weight despite the intense forms I have picked. Hi!! After reading all the case studies it’s really gotten to me that all these everyday people have been able to achieve amazing results. This has motivated me but most of all it has gotten my son in the right frame of mind to start doing something about his extra weight. I have been undergoing a body tranformation beginning 10 monthes ago. My husband had bariatic surgery 7 years ago. It helped him lose 150 pounds, but he gained back 50 and is still 150 pounds overweight. I am a forty one year old male who is going through his SECOND divorce. I am a supervisor with the United States Border Patrol in charge of the field training unit. It’s been a short time since I’ve been receiving your emails, but each day when I wake up, I look forward to reading yor next one.
I’ve tried many diets, but it seems the weight loss stops at certain points. Discouragement makes me go back to my old habits. Well, I’m trying again. Since February 8th, I lost 34 pounds. I think from reading your information, I am in, ( or was) in starvation mode. I am not losing anymore (for about the last 8 days). I’m READY to cheat! But I want to do it right so that I don’t erase all the progress I have worked so are for. We’re going on a trip to Alaska in 85 days from now (July 21), and I would LOVE to have proof that I was there! When I see a picture of myself these days, I find the delete key or the shredder as fast as I possibly can! I want a body like in the AFTER pictures of some of the gals that you have posted. If I was 30 Pounds lighter by the time we leave, I would be in heaven! I wouldn’t even have to buy new clothes for the trip! I have a few totes FULL of clothes that I haven’t been able to wear for a long long time.

I’ve recently started going to Zumba classes, and I hadn’t realized it before, but exercise makes me feel like another person! Brighter spirits, better moods, proud of what I’ ve been able to do so far, energized! I’ve come to crave going on the days off!
Not only do I want to lose the weight, but I NEED to. Last year I changed doctors, and the new one sent me for blood work. The did MANY tests, and they showed that I was at risk of type 2 diabetes. I Had high chloresteral, triglycerides and when my doctor wrote in my file that “the patient is visibly overweight” I almost crawled out of there. She put me in Lipidil, but I sure don’t want to be on them ( or worse ) for the rest of my life.
So… With your XFLD, I know I would follow it, because the faster this weight comes off, the sooner I can get retested, and hopefully get a clean bill of health before our trip.

I read your emails religiously and try to apply your advice to my diet and exercise everyday. I use cheat days followed by fast days, I supplement my fast days with BCAA’s, I eat low carb on non-resistance training days and moderate carbs on resistance training days. I keep a food journal, I use Prograde supplements and have done so on your recommendation since December. I’ve lost 20 pounds over the past four months, not bad but I can do better with this program. I love what I’ve learned from you and I crave more. I still need to lose 36 pounds to reach my goal weight and with the tools in this program I believe I can achieve what I have dreamed of my entire life. I’ve invested a lot of time and money in the research that you believe in, I hope that you will invest in me.
I am not fat, actually pretty muscular. I compete in bicycle races and carrying the extra weight up hills is not conducive to good results. I know that if I were with those skinny little guys at the finish I know I could do well. I ride 5 times a week and have tried many diets to no avail. Please HELP!!!

I’ve tried so many things (like most others) and I think the hardest part about motivation is seeing results in a reasonable timeframe. Hard work is fine, but you want to see some change from it. For me, my body likes to stay as is, no matter what I eat or how much I exercise (and I’ve been trying to get abs for 6 years, even when I eat perfect, it just doesn’t seem to make a difference!). The only one thing that DID work was your original Cheat Your Way Thin, but it was still a long haul and is a 12 week plan. I’m planning a holiday soon, so this will get me to a point where I’m no longer shy without a shirt (as the gf is Asian so genes are on her side) and I want to look good next to her. This plan seems the best way to get motivation and results quickly and to keep the motivation going long after. This is what I need to get me back on track and to that body I want and to get rid of that awful feeling of realizing that you’ve tried so hard for so long and still look ‘average’. Cheers Joel.

I am a 62 year old woman, been a runner and exerciser all my life and taught cardio classes into my 40’s. Until about 15 years ago, I was able to wear the cutoffs had worn in 8th grade – amazingly, I still had them. Since that time, I’ve had a slow creep of weight, all while doing cardio and strength training, altho I still weigh within 20 pounds of my high school weight. I recognize that some of my struggle is a result of pre and post menopause life, but knowing that doesn’t help and I hate it. I eat pretty clean, avoiding sugar and junk food and hardly ever eat processed or fast foods, but I truly have not yet hit upon the ‘magic’ formula to drop and keep off the weight around my middle. I’ve tried numerous diet plans, having owned about every diet book on the market. Partly because I’ve never had to worry about my weight because I was naturally slim, I’ve become pretty frustrated. Is XFLD the answer? I’m not sure but I’ve read all the updates and watched the videos. You seem to have hit upon the perfect combination of food and exercise recommendations backed by the science to support safe and lasting weight loss. I would love to give it solid effort, feel better for the next 20+ years of my life and be an example for others.
