I used to have a job that was very physical. I worked 14 hours each day and thought I was healthy because I was thin. Turns out those hours and poor diet created a nutritional void and now that I work from home, I’ve gained 60 pounds. I have the time to devote to myself. I have been tried different diets for reducing fat and gaining muscles, at the same time but have failed miserably. Instead in past few years I have given up on focusing on the fat loss part and have been training hard and eating lots of food just to pack on muscles. But then again, I have been reading all your emails and that you have really inspired me to think about fat loss all over again. These days I have been careful not to eat too much fat and carbs, but it did not work for me for I feel a bit lost in the mysterious world of nutrition. I’m facing 55. In the past. I’ve managed my weight with exercise and calorie-counting, but it isn’t working any more. I gained weight over the past two years and it won’t come off with the usual techniques. I’m stuck and trying to learn why and what to do about it. I’ve lost about 14 lbs since January but it’s been a real struggle. I have about 50 lbs more to go. I’m eating about 1200 calories/day and exercising 4-5 week. I am a 57 year old post menopausal woman. I have been active all my life, growing up swimming and water skiing, running track in school, joined one of the first “fitness centers” when they came into being. I taught aerobics for 20 years, and now use my lunch hour to work out at the closest gym to my office. This all being said I have always had to really work at keeping the weight off (I’m “stocky”) Fit or Fat by Covert Bailey became my bible because I always weighed about 10 lbs more than my girlfriends who wore the same size as me.
Now I’m in this wonderful stage of life where all my hard earned muscle wants to turn to jelly when I’m not looking and my strength is fading. I’m on an awesome protein diet that works pretty well if I adhere to it, but the idea of a “cheat day” sounds wonderful. I need something new to inspire me to work harder, because that is the only way I’m going to gain muscle or even maintain what I have, and to “shock” my body into doing better. This sounds like the ticket and my interest is definitely peaked.
This program is ideal for me. I’ve gone up and down in weight for years with, unfortunately, more ups than downs. I’ve made a commitment to stop the yo-yo and crash dieting but I need to do this the RIGHT way…no more Atkins, no more South Beach, no more fasting…but a solid weightlifting, cardio, and nutrition strategy. I want this program because I have never seen a comprehensive program that combines diet and exercise at specific times. I work hard in the gym and am extremely disciplined with my diet, but I just can’t get the results I want. I feel like I am close, but something I am doing or not doing is standing in my way. Joel, I’m 65 and for the last 6 months I’ve been trying to get rid of excess fat especially around my mid section. I exercise regularly and walk about an hour 3 to 4 times a week. But I’ve only been able to take off about 18 lbs. I think that this program will help me get down to the weight I would like and look great at my age.

A couple years ago I started a new antidepressant. Soon after I went from 125 to 145lbs. I was shocked, because I have never been one to gain weight. I saw a nutritionist, and my doctor, and followed their advice for diet and excercise but only lost 2lbs in many months. Then I moved to OH to transfer schools and stopped even doing that. Now I’m at 150, working out regularly and trying to control calories but I’m constantly hungry and the scale hasn’t moved. I don’t even know what to do anymore. I tried eating less, eating more, weights, cardio, every possible combination of the above. I just want to wear my old pants instead of buying new ones. I have a fitness blog on tumblr, and I want to be able to post an awesome after picture and inspire my followers!
i just spent the past 13 years conquering fibromyalgia. since july of 2011, i have been consistently working out, eating for my metabolism and weight loss. so far i have lost 65 pounds. i have been working with a personal trainer in south korea (i am half korean) since last november 2011 and have just 6 more weeks with him before going back home to the states and would really like to get my body fat % down. he has worked hard to customize a program for me to sculpt me into a sexy beast….and we are both working hard so i can get a hip tattoo and belly ring before i leave. i am currently at 33% body fat and would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get that down as much as possible. for myself first and also for him….he calls me his masterpiece. so sweet! :) plus, i would like boyfriend now that i am healed and strong again….in my 40’s being mistaken for a 25-30 year old. I’m 60 years old, a Type 2 diabetic and 40 pounds overweight. The only diet that I have had any success with was the Atkins diet but I couldn’t stick with it. I believe your method will work because of similar principles to Atkins but with a physical regimen to supplement/enhance the weight loss and build muscle tissue. Elements that the Atkins diet didn’t address. I’m eager to give your method a try. Thanks,

After being a fat kid who LOVED food all my life, over the past few years I have worked extremely hard to get down from a whopping 300 lbs to something much more manageable. But my unbreakable habit of dieting and exercising hard for most of the week and then losing my drive and falling off the wagon to binge eat on the weekends is unhealthy and ultimately negates my hard work. I have no routine to fall back on to guide me back on track before and after those binge days and I often find myself missing the gym because I know I am already eating more calories then I’m burning. Your program appears to offer a perfect balance of allowing the “cheat day” but also providing a structure of calorie deficit and appropriate, specialized exercise before and after this day to use this weekly treat to actually accelerate and regulate weightloss.
